I'm heading out on holiday to Japan in a couple of months and I am looking to pick up a new bag that I can use for this trip and onwards. I much prefer duffel bags to fixed cases and I wanted to ask people who already have them if I can get away with the 70l or not? I am going for two weeks and the bag needs to hold a weeks worth of clothes (there is a laundrette where I am staying) as well as a spare pair of shoes, toiletries, and other incidental things whilst having enough room for bringing plenty of extra stuff back with me. My brother has given me a laundry list of stuff to buy for him while I am out there, and I expect I will want to grab things for myself too. I dont go on big scale holidays often so a 100l bag would be overkill for my normal weekends away but I am unsure if 70l will be enough for this one. I'll also have a backpack as a carryon to keep my electronics in so I dont expect to need to move around with the duffel, it will just stay at the hotel.
EDIT: In case anybody comes back to this post from a google search in the future I picked up the 100L duffel and it was just the right size. I had it maybe 1/3rd of the way filled up going out but I never had to worry about if x would fit in my bag or not while I was there. It was a little unwieldy taking it between hotels but the added space meant I didn't ever have to worry about space. I bought a fair amount of bulky things and they all managed just fine in the duffel with only a smidge of tetris skills required before going to the airport.
