I bought my first patio set in 1979. Brown Jordan. A round glass top table with a center cutout for an umbrella. 4 chairs with vinyl strapping. The frame is a powder coated aluminum( ?) It remained in the Southern California sun until 2002 when we moved to Minnesota. 7 years outdoors in sub zero temps covered with snow. 2009. We moved to Georgia. The set is still intact on our deck today. The strapping is being to show signs of age but is still fully functional. More on reddit.com

Having gone through the cheap outdoor furniture circuit, skip the cheap stuff. Just go for the sunbrella fabric high quality furniture. It's not worth it to repurchase outdoor furniture every couple years. We ended up getting a sectional from Terra Outdoor Living. Pricey--yes. But definitely worth it. More on reddit.com
