Reset the BIOS to defaults...option BIOS for your drives, set the ram XMP, turn on PBO. I wouldn't bother with OC tuner or Ryzen Master overclocking unless you're chasing benchmarks...it won't add much of anything to gaming and will hurt other daily workloads by stopping the CPU from bursting to it's algorithm max. Remember Ryzen is always balancing heat, voltage, and clock speed trying to get the best safe performance from the chip. Turning on PBO will loosen up the motherboard settings so more than 88w will be available at the socket...but there's a catch to using it...things heat up much faster within the chip. Many people have found they get slightly better results without PBO on and just running the chip at stock settings due to that additional heat PBO introduces in the chip which causes the cores to downclock sooner than at stock. For example your CB R20 score may be higher after a few averaged runs without PBO...it will depend a lot on your cooling setup. Most people do a few runs of CB R20 and average the scores to get a more realistic result indicative of a cpu running a larger/longer workload. Answer from dorsai on forums.tomshardware.com

r/Amd on Reddit: Ryzen 3700x help with PBO
January 14, 2021 -

Alright so I'm sorry to post about this if I'm just being stupid here but just want some help here. So I'm running 3700x at 4.4ghz at 1.34v and am now being told I'm damaging my CPU at that voltage and to enable PBO. I enabled PBO and it set my frequency to 4.4ghz and max voltage around like 1.42. That 1.4v really scared me and Ryzen Master does show it hitting the 1.4 when opening cyberpunk. But then apparently it should be ok to just leave PBO on and it will handle everything for me and that possibly PBO is affecting more of single core than all cores like I have it OCed to right now.

I just want an answer, do I just put PBO on and call it a day? Also having both PBO or the OC I have now, temps are perfect. I'm being told because idk much about PBO I shouldnt be messing with overclocking and that I'm damaging my CPU for having it at 1.34 but I just want to say all this is new. I had my Ryzen 1600 and it was just anything under 1.35v is okay and now I search about overclocking the 3700x and now they're talking about all core clocking vs some cores, using PBO or not, being told even 1.325v is unsafe. With that being said I'd love to know what's the right thing to do here and I apologize if I'm being completely ignorant

November 12, 2020 - 4.3 is where my 3700x tops out at also on right under 1.3 vcore i didnt even push for 4.4 cause i wanted to keep the vcore under 1.3 or close to it temps for me arent a issue custom water loop only hits 62c. ... Gotcha. So after checking my cpu with 1USMUS Ryzen Tuner, it came back as a silver sample with a recommended oc of 4.2. Looks like PBO ...

3700X questions about PBO limits and performance boost | Overclock.net
July 22, 2020 - I came across this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/e8nne7/play_with_pbo_settings_dont_just_set_them_all_to/ and he talks about monitoring your PPT, TDC, EDC values and adjusting your PBO settings according to their peaks to essentially just raise them slightly above their limits which in return gives you more performance while lowering temperatures.

r/overclocking on Reddit: PBO settings Ryzen 3700X.
January 2, 2022 -

Hello everyone! I have been suffering with my Ryzen 3700X for a very long time and cannot find adequate overclocking for it, then I tried it on all cores - I need more voltage. I tried it on Per CCX - more voltage is also needed. PBO and offset at the moment, the only salvation to make + is a productive and cold system. So, can anyone share their PBO settings for this processor or give advice. At the moment there is such a config:

PPT - 110 TDC - 70 EDC - 100
Scalar х1
Max Boost 200 Mhz
Offset - 0.62

Ryzen 3700X PBO2 or Manual Overclock? | Overclock.net
October 10, 2019 - I finally got ABBA for my MSI X470 Gaming Plus so figured I'd see if it was as good as a lot of reviewers say. Most say to use PBO2 and not fool with manual overclock. In Cinebench R20 MT the PBO2 hit 1.45v but only 77c. The manual OC of 4300 + 1.325V hit 76c. In single the PBO2 did 1.35v vs...

Does AMD's PBO, and AutoOC increase performance?
October 3, 2025 - A consequence of PBO is that it might allow for higher CPU boost clocks if the power and thermal conditions that we mentioned are all met. The AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor AutoOC or Auto OverClocking is an offset for the processor's boost behaviour, which you can set at a maximum of up to 200 MHz more than the default maximum boost clock of the CPU.

r/overclocking on Reddit: 3700X poor performace with PBO vs manual OC
April 25, 2022 -

I've been runnning my 3700x stock ever since I got it and i finally got around to overcloking it. I didn't know PBO was a think and just used clock tuner for ryzen to get a rough number for setttings and tuned from there. From what i hear PBO should get the best results but my manul OC kicked its ass and I am a bit confused by that. Under full load with PBO only it only boosts to 4.1 GHz and pulls 1.37 volts. My manual OC was able to do 4.375 volts (CCX1) and 4.350 volts (CCX2), only gets to 60C, and only draw 1.3 volts (I know there is more to gain just didn't know what the upper bound of voltage was so I keept it at 1.3V). I know the 3700x was not the best of overclockers but I feel I am missing something. Was PBO that bad when it came to 100% loads?

r/Amd on Reddit: PBO2 Curve Optimizer to save power and increase all-core benchmarks on 5800X3D: IT WORKS!
April 27, 2022 -

13th post has link to the program. Only curve optimizer works and with that only negative values work:https://www.overclock.net/threads/5800x3d-owners.1798046/

I've uploaded two files to show the difference during the test. I lazily used -10 on each core. Went from 14,800 to 15,100 points. I should have taken more screenshots but I didn't. Try it for yourself.

Unfortunately with the tool in beta you have to reapply the values after startup.

Hopefully we get Ryzen Master and more motherboard support on this front.

-10

[SOLVED] - Overclocking 3700x | Tom's Hardware Forum
April 22, 2020 - Tweaking PBO moves the clocks to 4250 during the same test. But turning on the auto overclocking (on my board) just increased temperature. I have no idea what it did; clocks stayed right around 3650 or so in the middle of the P95 test. ... That....and higher mid-range clock speed during extremely heavy processing loads. That is helped seriously by better cooling, but under a 240mm AIO I can get mid-range clock speeds to go from 3650Mhz (just above 3700x base clock) to 4200Mhz in Prime 95 just by changing PBO to ENABLED.

Answer (1 of 3): In order to boost your Ryzen 3700x CPU, you will require two things first. (Ideally a CPU cooler that is capable of handling greater than 100W...
