It's probably the WinRing0 exploit again. Fan Control got hit hard by Defender last night as well. There are several pieces of software that use this outdated driver getting flagged. You can whitelist the driver and continue to use the software. This is a legitimate problem, but the driver is abandoned and needs to be fully rewritten, which probably isn't going to happen anytime soon. To be clear, this has been an issue since 2020, but Windows must have changed how they flag the file in the recent definition update, which has triggered the detection again. Why don't you undervolt in BIOS? For 7800X3D i used SMUDebugTool to find stable undervolt, not sure if it works with 5800X3D. Software is good for testing, but it's more reliable to do it in BIOS permanently after you found the sweetspot.

September 20, 2025 - PS: In theory, you wouldn't need ZenStates-Core anymore, you would be able to use the modules without the additional layer, unless you want to rely on me updating the commands for every new CPU, but since PBO2 Tuner only needs 2-3 commands, that wouldn't be too hard to maintain on your side as well and reduce the overhead from the DLL which contains a lot more functions, which PBO2 does not use.

This affected FanControl but there is workaround in avoiding the problem .dll that defender is flagging. I'm just not sure what to do with PBO2.
