My credit union is not part of the Zelle network like many other banks and credit unions are. Instead, they offer a similar service called "People Pay" that allows you to send money to friends/relatives easily. Money can be sent to recipients through their PayPal account, directly to their bank account, or through email/text-message, where they presumably get a link to provide their account number to claim the money.
I can't seem to find any info on the underlying organization that manages and runs this service. There's no central website or wikipedia page for it. My bank's info page describing the service is fairly superficial and doesn't have any info about what the experience is like for recipients or how their info is kept safe. It's clear from a google search for "People Pay" that many banks support the service, but none of them seem to give any more specific details either.
Does anyone know how the service actually operates? Who actually runs it and where is all the account info stored since it's used by so many different banks?
