April 19, 2025 -

So my brooklinen just tore and I’m looking for some new sheets. I got Shilucheng 100% Cotton Queen Size off of Amazon and I swear theyre not as cool as my percale cotton was.

Any recs for percale cotton on Amazon? Range between $50-$150? $200 max? I have reward points I want to use is why I want Amazon

Thanks!

r/Bedding on Reddit: Percale sheets on a budget? Is this a thing?
January 31, 2025 -

My boyfriend and I’s room is super warm all year round. Regardless of the houses temp being set at 73, it stays at like 75-77 in our bedroom :(

Because of this, I am on the hunt for temperature regulation/cool bedding. I bought us a eucalyptus lyocell comforter (which has been amazing!!) but it was pretty pricey. Around $170-180ish I think I paid.

I’ve heard percale cotton sheets are the best way to go. But they all look super expensive. I know Quince has some, but I’ve heard not the best things about their sheets.

TL;DR - looking for percale sheets on a budget that aren’t completely horrible. No more than $100 (IF possible!)

I’ve done lots of research and before my final decision wanted to hear if anyone would share their experience with percale sheets from American Blossom Linens, Red Land Cotton, Coyuchi, and Lands’ End. Or if there’s another great brand I’m missing. But I’m wanting to stay away from big marketing companies and those that were once beloved but have recently gone down in quality.

Overall looking for soft, crisp, and cool percale sheets best for hot sleepers in Texas. Max $400 for a queen. Ideally less. And while we’re at it: Suggestions for silk duvet and percale duvet cover? Or is there another combination I should be looking at?

TIA!

I have scoured the threads. Tried Quince - scratchy and horrible quality. I don’t get the hype. Then I ordered LL Bean - very meh. Feels a bit rough and lacking quality. I LOVED my Brooklinen percale I bought 7-8 years ago but they ripped within a couple years and from the reviews I read, they aren’t the same and longevity hasn’t improved. I’m also limited because I need two twin XL sets for our split King - many options shared don’t have the twin XL option. Help!

r/Bedding on Reddit: Finally found decent price percale cotton sheets!
December 8, 2024 -

I recently posted looking for advice on replacing my 5 year old Target organic percale sheets. Target quality really declined, I bought, tried and returned all of theirs. I also tried Costco brands and several others. Everyone recommended LL Bean ($$$) so I bought them I admit that I didn't hate them but they were sooo silky. Too slick. So I returned them because that is too much money to spend and not love them.

I had bought a set of sheets for my guest room on Amazon and after ripping the entire side seam off of my old Target sheet I just decided to throw those on the bed to try. And finally, perfection! Not too thick, not too silky, not heat retaining. Perfect, Crispin sheets. And at Target price point. I don't know why I didn't try them sooner.

They are called California Design Den 600 thread luxury cotton. $79.99 king set. They are described as "Sateen" but after washing they definitely feel more like percale than sateen. Not slick.

I already know they hold up pretty good because I've been using them in my guest room for 3 years. We'll see how they do with more frequent laundering.

Thank you for all the help and comments. I hope this info helps someone else.

My boyfriend and I have been trying to invest in our bed. We upgraded and splurged on a king, got a costco mattress pad and then a mattress protector over that. I bought us the polar tropic pillows from sleep country and we also got a canadian goose duvet. I cannot find sheets!! We bought brook linen percale in the colour cream and returned them the same day! they looked like they were almost soaked in pee? way too yellow. and the material was okay, just felt like they should be returned. fast forward i’ve been trying to get parachute home percale sheets, but they’re always sold out!! so frustrating because everytime i’ve been on the website throughout the year the colour and size I need for them is never available! i’m looking for good percale sheets!

Anyone have some percale sheets they swear by here? I’ve looked up previous threads and saw good things about pottery barn, ll bean, etc. but all of these manufacturers seem to have gone down hill. I read that ll bean stopped manufacturing in Portugal and is now using china with a decrease in quality. I was checking the Riley website to find that they are offering $200+ sheets and only a 60 day return policy….

I’m tired of spending a lot of money and ending up with sheets that don’t make it an entire year. My wife spent enough money with “sheets and giggles” who sell eucalyptus sheets that I could puke. None of them made it more 3 months.

Hey everyone, first time posting here. I've been looking into solutions for hot sleeping and decided on percale due to price and ease of maintenance compared to linen. My question is whether the quality is truly different between often recommended brands here and something off of Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/Cotton-Percale-Sheets-Pocket-Linen/dp/B08965K9KC/ref=mp_s_a_1_17?crid=13STML6KA568J&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.izFR2rQ7eHyySgKi5X1wauSmfkojG7BO1yS7EnhaKFntbj7VnwjC5GTCI0vQuq4GbLhZQCQYT4QNNiea0QPmzlRfWXcaZZ6iP6tuoYpiA3yHgMF1PQ1sTZ4VBPabhXTcFTzC-USkKcxzst6WcIoYyZxzW0gHjeeJNhl0B4NniqicVqeuCZ3N5IbEHxU1ZiZgtmIOfvb3bF2orntlDAoT-g.Q9nrLAmRPBhZBmXgC7Hu0H9tL4sr9dYHv63l9eHbNB4&dib_tag=se&keywords=percale+long+staple+queen+fitted+sheets&qid=1713215614&sprefix=percale+long+staple+queen+fitted+sheets%2Caps%2C116&sr=8-17

These are the two I've been looking at, and the Amazon choice honestly doesn't seem like a bad choice to me. Can someone please advise? Thanks!

PS I tried posting but is seemed to be removed immediately, so I'm trying again with the full original Amazon link I tried to shorten!

My boyfriend and I finally found the perfect mattress for us about a year ago. (Stern's and Foster innerspring with a hand tufted pillow top, highly recommend).

We can not find reliable sheets. We have probably gone through 3 or 4 sets. We have struggled with non stop pilling or sheets shredding after repeated washes. On top of that I have sensitive skin and I want to avoid chemically treated fabrics. I have become very cautious when it comes to online reviews and third party sellers on Amazon. I'm hoping someone can help us out.

We're looking for 100% cotton percales. We're okay with wrinkles, so nothing pre treated. Deep pockets to fit our mattress. Any recommendations?

So I have a couple of sets of percale sheets from both Quince and California Design Den.

They’re perfectly fine but they are a bit too stiff for my liking even after multiple washes, especially the Quince sheets.

These were relatively inexpensive sets for under $100 so I’m not expecting the world but curious if there’s a noticeable difference in quality/softness with sets a slightly higher price point.

I know the Sferras and Frettes of the world are amazing but I’m not willing to spend that much.

Question is are $200-$300 sets from Peacock Alley or Hudson Park or Hotel Collection or other equivalent brands a significant difference than some of the cheaper brands like the ones I have? Especially in terms of softness.

And when I say soft I do mean soft, not just smooth.

If so I’d be willing to give it a shot and maybe return the Quince sheets.

If the answer is yes what are some of your favorite percale sheets in the $200-$300 price range?

I'm really trying to keep it down to about $50 a set. It may be a big ask to find quality sheets for that price, I realize, but I need to get the best I can.

Twins size - percale

Anyone have any advice? What about buying used sheets that are of good quality, like at estate sales or something along those lines? Or good quality sheets that have a problem with the pattern or some other feature that's just cosmetic at a lower price? Also, I think I heard somebody say that Target has something that's pretty decent, but I don't know what brand/line to look for. Also, I might be able to make due with just flat sheets. I have plenty of pillow cases, and I can just use a blanket without a top sheet, if necessary.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!

r/Bedding on Reddit: Reasonably-priced percale or linen sheets that are not paper thin?
June 5, 2024 -

For some reason I tend to go through bottom sheets pretty quickly (despite wearing socks and line-drying) so I'm in search of percale sheets that strike a balance between longevity (ie. not paper-thin material) and price (because I will go through sheets eventually, regardless of quality, so would prefer not to spend hundreds a year on them). We also need them in dark colors, which rules out a few brands. Bonus for being able to buy just the bottom fitted sheet so I don't have to add to my closet full of un-needed top sheets and pillowcases.

Having gone through a bunch of Amazon options and returning them all because the fabric is stupidly thin to the point of being virtually transparent in some cases, I'm now looking at Lands End (300 TC percale) and Quince (Classic Organic Percale) as a potentially decent mid-tier options. But before pulling the trigger I'm curious if anyone has feedback on those or any other suggestions.

My other half and I are hot sleepers, hence the percale requirement. We'd also like to try linen at some point, but that seems like even more of a minefield finding a balance between price and quality -- I bought a few Amazon linen options and instantly returned them because they looked like gauze with such a loose weave and fine fibers that they didn't look like they'd last more than a few washes. Yes, I know, Amazon generally peddles no-name crap these days, but occasionally one finds a diamond in the rough!

Looking for a new set of cotton percale sheets that’ll last as long as possible. I’m a hot sleeper so a lower thread count would be ideal, less than 400 thread count. I’ve been trying to find a longer staple sheet (I’ve heard that’s more durable?) that has a low thread count but I haven’t been able to find any.

Any suggestions? The price is not important if it lasts a long time.

Edit: 2 years later, people are still finding this so I’ll update. I ended up buying Brooklinen percale sheets and they have worn fantastically. They have only improved with time, almost getting a velvety feel with wear. Very happy with what I got. They have been cool, and have a lovely crisp feel and sound.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for the best percale sheets and I'm hoping to get some expert advice from you all. I've been doing some research and I've narrowed it down to a few brands, but I'd love to hear your personal experiences with different percale sheets.

Here are the brands that I'm considering:

  • Brooklinen

  • Saatva

  • Williams-Sonoma

  • The Company Store

  • Boll & Branch

  • Crane & Canopy

I'm looking for sheets that are soft, crisp, and breathable. I also want them to be durable and long-lasting. I'm open to any thread count, but I'm leaning towards something in the 300-400 range.

If you have any experience with any of these brands, I'd love to hear your thoughts! What did you like or dislike about the sheets? Would you recommend them to others?

Thanks in advance for your help!

March 12, 2025 - I’ve heard they’re heavier cotton with a distinct percale feel. I wish I could try a several other brands but there’s a practical limit as to what makes sense. I have two perfectly good sets (5 years old, 1 year old), so adding more is money I don’t need to spend. ... Right. I couldn’t even imagine spending 100$ for sheets but they have lasted so long and held up well.

March 10, 2017 -

My mom sent me to college with her old sheets. They were pure heaven. Knowing her, she wouldn't have paid more than $100 for them back in the 1990s. They were high quality, 100% cotton percale, and they were so, so soft. I used them another 5-7 years until they withered away completely. The edges frayed and my mom was appalled that I still used them, but they felt so cool and soft, and you could use bleach on them (unlike synthetic fabrics) once a year if they looked dingy, With the advent of sateen and microfiber, I haven't had luck replacing them. I also heard that there is cheating with thread count because of machine advances that make it seem that the thread count is higher than it is (or something- it used to be 300 thread count or higher was good quality, but some weaves defied this benchmark or something). I don't like sateen - plus I live in Southern California, so they are a bit heavy for this area. I have ordered the cheap Clara sheets on Amazon, but some of them have pilled, and I think they are better for guest rooms or beds that have less wear. I am wondering if there are high quality, old fashioned percale cotton sheets out there that are under $100-125 for a king that would last ten years. I would also be open to buying a fitted sheet à la carte because we don't use king-sized pillows.
