The dry bagged mix might actually be easier to adjust. Don't remember brand, but one I bought in the past had instructions for either a drop cookie or a rolled cookie (which is what I assume you'll need/want). If no instructions, I would use less liquid to begin and then add as needed to get the desired texture. The other option is from scratch. I protested that it had no instructions and was going to go straight in the trash because no one would know how to prepare it.
