r/Free_VPN_Planet on Reddit: If VPN doesn't work
January 19, 2024 -

Hi, now on Reddit on the topic of VPNs periodically appear threads like "I go to the website with VPN, but the website still doesn't work" and other similar issues. This guide will be universal, because most likely one of these problems (not usually) can be solved if you follow one of these steps.

  • Firewall configuration (critical): Your computer's firewall configuration may be the reason why websites are inaccessible when using a VPN. It is recommended that you enable the ports used by VPNs and whitelist VPN servers in your firewall.

  • Cookies and cache (obvious, but simple): While they help you view the content you like, these files contain and may reveal information about your actual location. Therefore, it is important to clear these files. They can also become corrupted and interfere with the proper functioning of a website or online service.

  • Blocking directly by the browser: Some browsers may have a built-in script to block certain sites. Changing your browser may help.

  • Connection status: Check the connection status between your computer and the VPN server. If the connection is weak, you may have problems accessing websites. Try restarting the router and then re-enabling your VPN again.

  • Restrictions imposed by the VPN service: Some VPN services impose restrictions on the use of certain websites, and this may result in you not being able to access certain websites.

  • Problem with the VPN application: There may be technical problems with the VPN application that cause you to be unable to access websites. In this case, it is recommended that you reinstall the VPN application or use a different VPN application.

If you have your own solutions, post them below. See ya!

If you uninstalled the vpn, you should manually try changing the dns adress(you can do that in the control panel), it might as well be disabled, or uninstalled, you can easy fix it when you head to control panel -> Network and internet -> network conections.. right click the connection youre using (ethernet or wifi) and click properties there, look for Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).. it should be checked.. but i recommend you click on it and click properties again, and manually set it to a stable dns adress like 8.8.8.8 for thr primary and 8.8.4.4 for the secondary.. once youre done with that just click ok and you can close your control panel, i hope the issue is there. I ALSO recommend flushing your dns by opening cmd and entering: ipconfig /flushdns. Hope it works!🙏

Hi u/Bexxik , thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp ! If your post is listed as pending moderation, try to include as much of the following information as possible (in text or in a screenshot) to improve the likelihood of approval: Your Windows and device specifications — You can find them by pressing Win + X then clicking on “System” Any messages and error codes encountered — They're actually not gibberish or anything catastrophic. It may even hint the solution! Previous troubleshooting steps — It might prevent you headaches from getting the same solution that didn't work As a reminder, we would also like to say that if someone manages to solve your issue, DON'T DELETE YOUR POST! Someone else (in the future) might have the same issue as you, and the received support may also help their case. Good luck, and I hope you have a nice day! Can you use Planet VPN for streaming? Planet VPN works with all popular streaming platforms, but its performance is inconsistent. That’s disappointing because some analysts claim up to 24% of VPN users choose them for secure streaming (Forbes, 2025)2. There’s no shortage of VPNs, both free and cheap, that make these sorts of claims, so we decided to test it out to see how it truly performs. Is Planet VPN safe?
