Hello! This is my first post here so I'll try to be as concise as possible. When using Photoshop to edit my jpg scans from the lab, I grew very fond of applying a platinum gradient filter, which gave the image this subtle sheen. You can see what I'm talking about here. I just got a scanner and after scanning my own tiff files, the gradient filter changes the quality of light but does not produce the same effect. You can see the image I used a gradient filter on here (I know it's terribly dusty, but that's beside the point). As you can see, the image is purely black and white, it doesn't have the silvery, almost brownish? tone that the original one has. My first instinct was that Photoshop was behaving differently as a result of editing using a tiff. But even after converting the file from a tiff to a jpg, the gradient filter behaves the same way.
I've become very fond of this effect and I so very want to use it on my future scans. I would appreciate absolutely any advice on how I can once again attain a silvery sheen using the platinum gradient filter.
