How to find old Google Play Music?
Unfortunately, I think you are going to be out of luck here, might reach out to support but don't hold your breath. I had lots of purchased music and custom playlists, but before they ended Google Play Music they provided a transfer tool to migrate my purchased songs and all playlists over. It worked well. I think you could launch the transfer from EITHER YTM or Google Play Music. I'm sure all of that data is scrubbed and gone now though. More on reddit.com

For me, it was simply that my uploaded music was listed along side my streaming music, they shuffled together, and there was functionally no difference between them. With YTM, my uploaded music is isolated and I have to remember to go to it and play it intentionally, it won't integrate. And that I miss quite a bit. I do think YTM is a good service and I'm happy with it, but GPM had some really unique features that just don't exist anymore. Additionally, sometimes I like just one song, or one album from an artist that I don't listen to much, and with GPM, it showed what songs from an artist you had in your library on the artist page, so I could be reminded instantly what I liked from them. Some years ago now, Google announced that their Google Play Music app was being phased out in favour of YouTube Music. I used to use Google Play Music around 8-10 years ago and had actually purchased music on it, but I can't seem to find where this would be in YouTube Music, either the app or the web page. Is there and easy way to find it as well as my playlists?

I only ever used GPM for the free songs they used to give away. All of those still show up for me, but they're kind of hidden. Go into your Library and check under "Uploads." They should be there alongside any music you personally upload to your account.

Why won't Google take YouTube Music seriously? The app experiences are really frustrating (both mobile and PC, but more so PC). Coming from Spotify, I feel like I always run into some frustration of some sort. There are many but here are 3 examples off the top of my head:
On mobile, the app doesn't automatically start playing offline files when you are offline. You have to manually "go to downloads".
It's also virtually impossible to search inside libraries e.g., inside your liked music- you have to search the entire YT Music database just to land on that one song you already liked. This frustrates me a lot coz if you have a cue going on and would like to go back to a song from earlier, good luck with that!
On PC, it's a joke tbh. Try accessing your downloads while offline (the whole point of downloads btw). It's virtually impossible.
The Spotify experience was so nice. But I like YT Music so I have been suffering through these half-baked apps for the past 10 months. Google needs to take this platform a bit more seriously. It's a huge company with unlimited resources. We shouldn't have to cope like this.
I suggest they study the Spotify apps and see how those work.

The main reason I use it is because it’s bundled with YouTube premium, and I’m going to pay for that regardless, so it seems wasteful to pay for another music subscription service on top of that. It does have some quirks, but for my needs it generally does everything I need it to without issues. I have a bunch of albums and playlists downloaded to my phone, and I can play them offline without any issues.
