This thing is probably as cheap as they can get it. It’s $200. That’s not exorbitant. Answer from MarsupialPresent7700 on reddit.com

October 4, 2024 - You're safe, Portal is selling too well for Sony to want to discount it yet. More replies ... Actually it’s 99 cents off. ... you should have bought it before they updated it. It's not gonna be on sale for a while now. these things are flying off the shelves right now ...

What are you buying from the Black Friday sale, in general, or even better specifically with Portal play in mind? I'm normally a physical copy buyer so I can resell on eBay, but it's great to have digital copy on Portal so there's no worries about which disc happens to be inserted.

So far I've grabbed ..

  • Marvel's Midnight Suns: The game has great reviews and I can see playing a tactical RPG being perfect for Portal

  • Witcher 3: I now own the physical copy for Switch, PS4, PS5 and the digital copy on Steam. I've never made it past about 20% completion. The price was so low, and I've wanted to play it so badly that I couldn't pass it up. I plan on selling ally physical copies on eBay, and it's nice to have digital on PS5 so I don't have to worry about disc inserted

  • Mass Effect: I've never played this game and this edition sounded great, couldn't pass it up at this price

  • Civilization 6: this game was so addictive playing handheld on Switch! I have to imagine its even better on Portal

Post your list so I don't miss anything good! I'll likely grab RDR2 even though I had been waiting for a PS5 version 🤞

r/PlaystationPortal on Reddit: My “not so good” experience with the PlayStation Portal (returned after 3 hours)
November 24, 2025 -

Picked up a PlayStation Portal this morning after I grabbed the 12-month PS Plus Premium sub in the Black Friday sale. Thought I’d finally give it a try. Got home, unboxed it, connected to Wi-Fi… and it immediately started doing 3 consecutive updates. Downloading was quick on my 1.2 Gbit connection, but the actual installation took forever; over 30 minutes in total. I’m not a cloud gaming hater or lover; I’m just a picture quality and input lag snob. Streaming is always a compromise in those two areas, but I’d tried cloud gaming on my PS5 Pro earlier on and thought “okay, I can live with this for the occasional session at work or whatever.” So I fired up Spider-Man Remastered from the cloud (same game I’d just played on the PS5 Pro). What a letdown. Input lag was noticeably higher than on the PS5 Pro itself, the screen is awful; colours are dull, contrast is terrible, shadow detail basically doesn’t exist, and there’s loads of ghosting. Speakers are weak and tinny, and the sound is delayed too. For the record: I’m on a UniFi U6 Enterprise access point, ceiling mounted, rock-solid connection, zero interference. Network is definitely not the problem. I put a quick video comparison in the comments: Portal vs Chiaki remote play on my Legion Go (SteamOS). You can clearly see way less input lag on the Legion Go. I get that this is a cheap streaming device, but I at least expected Sony to make it work better with their own console than random third-party apps do. The only genuinely nice thing is the controls; it really does feel like someone just strapped a DualSense to an ultra-budget tablet. After ~3 hours of testing I took it straight back to the store. Anyone else massively underwhelmed, or did I just expect too much?

Browsing through the sales right now. Here are the games I have my eye on.

Kcd 2 expansion pass, Baby Steps, Hellblade 2, Clair Obsur: Expedition 33, Spider-man 2, Astro bot.

Idk if I will grab all of them but definitely a great selection! What are you going to pick up?

Got all of this.

I already have PS5 launch edition which I bought used earlier this year. Finally got back to gaming after a decade. Have cleaned about 15 titles including RDR2, cyberpunk, Elden ring, Spiderman series, ratchet and clank, resident evil 4 etc

Now all these are for the holidays!

PS: the new PS5s are for my younger cousins who secretly want a PS5. And that’s for them

Just to name a few standouts, Elden Ring, Armored Core 6, FF7 Remake Integrade, Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, and Robocop Rogue City are $20.

Yakuza Infinite Wealth, SMT V Vengeance, Persona 3 Reload, and Resident Evil 2, 3, 4, and 7 Gold are under $18.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, FF7 Rebirth, and Once Upon a Katamari (only a month since release) are $30.

Deals will be rolling out this week up until Black Friday, so if you have specific games you are interested in, save them and check periodically.

Let me know if there are any big ones I missed!
