The best option is probably just a USB mic you can plug directly into your computer or laptop that can run 50-100 bucks and there’s free options to record in like audacity or GarageBand if you’re in a Mac.

Hi there,
I’ll try to do a podcast with a friend. We’ll be sitting in the same room so I thought a single mic should be enough. But on on the other side it will be better to have two voice streams to cut things out. But… I’m kind of overloaded with all the options on the market. And we don’t have a lot of budget. Any ideas? Don’t want to spend (a lot) more the 500€. I’m already having a BeyerDynamics Fox (that’s not even good for a one mic thing. Right? For a two mic set I guess it’s working?). I have one pair of beyerdynamic headphones as well.
Any ideas and tips?

One mic per person. Preferably dynamic unless you know what you are doing. Depends on what you want to do. I tend to start at a Zoom Podtrak P4 and two dynamic mics like the Shure SM58 or the sE V7 or if money is an issue the Behringer XM8500. Each mic needs an XLR cable and stand. SD card for the P4. Two mics! Behringer xm8500 are cheap and sound nice. Or Shure Sm58s. We use the Scarlett Vocaster 2 which has two mic inputs into a dedicated pc outside of the recording area. We sit about 4 feet apart and I have sound dampening material. Works pretty well overall. We don't use headphones except to check the recording at the beginning.
