I’ve been pleasantly surprised with Cosmopolitan. Recently it’s had some pretty good articles on mental health and conversion therapy. There is some celebrity gossip but very little IMO. It definitely leans into the early/mid-20s demographic though. My Nan reads Woman’s Weekly which is more her age group but i think it’s really charming, lots of interviews with interesting people, fiction and cooking/craft recipes. What are some quality, not dumb women's magazines?

Real Simple is surprisingly good for this. It’s more so lifestyle (exercise, decor, cooking, organizing, social interaction tips, book recommendations, etc.) than only makeup and clothing but it does usually include a small spread on outfit and makeup ideas for the upcoming season. As someone who was also on the hunt for an adult replacement to those magazines, I have fully enjoyed subscribing to RS for over 2 years. More on reddit.com

If you're thinking about getting back into magazines, definitely check out your local library. Mine has a ton of magazines available through the Libby app, and I use an old tablet to read them. I used to love, love, love magazines. I only recently started trying to read more magazines again, but I'm going through the standards like Glamour, Women's Health, and Vogue. I will definitely check back into this thread if others have recommendations, but the nice thing about the library is you're not paying for anything so who cares if an issue is subpar? I like to explore the more indy fashion magazines you can buy at book stores (at least that’s where they are sold where I live). Currently I have been enjoying The Gentle Woman, Dazed & Confused, Heroine, Violet and Hunger. Vogue, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar are not bad by definition but there they are bit too formulaic for me. Hi all,
I'd like to get a magazine subscription but I'm completely unfamiliar with what you guys have here. The reason I'm asking is that I remembered a women's magazine from my home country which, in addition to the usual travel, fashion and shopping offerings, had really nice interviews with a wide range of people (mostly women) - doctors, opera singers, race drivers, school principals etc. There were also brilliant articles about art history and design, event and book reviews, health and lifestyle sections. Very little gossip (like two pages of celebrity news). Is there something like that in the UK, preferably available as a paper copy?
