If your address is a new building, it could have been a new postal code added by Canada Post but not yet implemented on many other websites (who need to buy that data from CP). This was the case in my current building, which was new 5 years ago when we moved in. For a few years, I had to use the old postal code that had been originally assigned to that address on some websites that didn’t have the new postal code in their database. If this is on a website that you deal with frequently, make a request to their website team to either update their CP database or explicitly add your postal code to their database. I don't want to give out the code because it gives out too much information on where I live.
Anyway, I've had several times now where some website or another requires a postal code and I try to put mine in and it just won't accept it. So I just pick an arbitrary one close to mine instead.
I'm just curious if this is a common thing in Toronto and why it would be the case.

I get that sometimes because my street has a postal code but then my building has its own code, auto-sites always seem to choose the streets postal code.
