Where can I find my La Poste tracking number?
If you are the sender, the tracking number is usually shown on the proof of deposit, shipping label, online postage confirmation, or receipt from a post office. If you are the recipient, the number is usually sent by the online store, marketplace, seller, or La Poste by email or SMS after dispatch.
If a delivery attempt was missed, the postal worker may leave an avis de passage, or delivery notice. This notice can include an 11-digit number that can also be used to track or manage the delivery.
How do I track a La Poste package?
There are several ways to track your La Poste package. You can use Ship24, the official La Poste tracking page, the La Poste mobile app, or the delivery notice number left after a missed delivery.
Track your La Poste package on Ship24
- Enter your La Poste tracking number in the search field at the top of this page.
- Click the search button or press Enter.
If you often track parcels in France or Europe, you can also use Ship24 to follow related carriers such as Chronopost, DPD, and other postal or parcel networks that may handle the shipment after a handover.
Track on the La Poste website or mobile app
- Open La Poste’s official Track a parcel page or the La Poste mobile app.
- Enter your shipment number, delivery notice number, or partner number when accepted.
- Click on the track button.
The La Poste mobile app can also help you follow Colissimo, Chronopost, and tracked mail from your phone. On the app, you can scan or enter the tracking number and check the shipment status without typing the number manually.
Track with a delivery notice number
If a delivery attempt was missed, the postal worker may leave an _*_avis de passage_*_, or delivery notice. This notice can include an 11-digit number that can be used to track or manage the delivery. Use this number if you do not have the original parcel tracking number.
Ask the sender or La Poste for help
If you cannot find the tracking number, contact the sender first. The sender can confirm the carrier tracking number, shipping date, service used, and whether a partner carrier was assigned. If the delivery issue is already visible in tracking, you can contact La Poste with the tracking number or delivery notice number.
Why is my La Poste tracking not updating?
La Poste tracking can pause for several normal reasons. A tracking gap does not always mean the parcel is lost. It may mean the parcel is waiting for its first scan, moving between facilities, waiting for import processing, or being handled by a partner carrier that has not yet sent the next update.
The parcel has not received its first physical scan
A status such as _*_Votre Colissimo va bientôt nous être confié_*_ usually means the sender has created or prepared the shipment, but La Poste may not have received or scanned it yet. In this case, wait for the next scan or ask the sender when the parcel was handed over.
The tracking number is incorrect
Check the number carefully before searching. Common mistakes include confusing 0 with O, 1 with I, or 8 with B. Remove spaces, hyphens, and any extra characters. If the number appears next to SD, enter the number only.
You are using an order number instead of a carrier number
Store order references usually cannot be tracked on La Poste or Ship24 unless the merchant uses the same reference as the carrier tracking number. If your search returns no result, ask the sender for the tracking number from the shipping label.
The parcel changed carrier
International parcels can move from La Poste or Colissimo to Chronopost, DPD, the destination postal operator, or another partner. A second tracking number may appear after the handover. Keep both the original La Poste number and any new partner number.
The shipment is waiting for customs
If tracking shows import formalities, customs clearance, or a tax-related step, the parcel may wait until the declaration is processed or payment is completed. This is common for parcels entering France from outside the European Union or moving between mainland France and French Overseas territories.
The tracking is no longer available
La Poste tracking is available for 12 months after the shipment is accepted. If you try to track an older parcel, the tracking page may no longer return shipment details.
