What’s everyone’s final thoughts on Prehistoric Planet?
Prehistoric Planet is not a very good documentary
Why Prehistoric Planet (2022) Has Potential
So T.L.D.R. it takes dinosaurs seriously as real creatures, and should hopefully help undo some of the damage by the jurassic park franchise. Plus David Attenborough is always a win.

While i definitely will concede the series may not be perfect, I believe it’s one of the best Dino docs to date, and many of the dinosaurs and creatures depicted are some of the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen.
If I had to pick any complaints, it would mainly be that some segments felt a bit rushed, and certain plot points felt reused. Also a bit irksome that some creatures were referred to as members of their family names like “Elasmosaurs, Hadrosaurs, or Troodontids, instead of an actual genus name.
Even so, it was a breathtaking series, and one that did a better job of making them feel like real animals than any other doc I’ve ever seen. Dinosaurs don’t need to be constantly fighting or hunting prey to feel cooler or more spectacular, they do that well enough on their own.
I really hope a season 2 is in our future, but even if it’s not I plan on buying this either digitally or in 4K the moment it comes out
What does everyone here think?
Compared to it's predecessors (namely; Walking with dinosaurs) Prehistoric Planet was a letdown for me. While the CGI and cinematography are fine, it has an immense problem of pacing; we barely spend more than 5 minutes with each dinosaur, which is rather disappointing because we end up learning next to nothing about them. Each episode lacks a central theme, while it's true that they tried to tie each episode together with the environment the dinosaurs lived in, it is still incoherent as a whole. They should've made each episode follow an individual dinosaur and show "secondary" animals along the way.
