I think the show fundamentally missed the spirit of Prehistoric Planet. I enjoyed it, but focusing on the wider narrative of extinctions rather than the here and now of the animals as living breathing creatures (almost like it was to placate the Walking with Dinosaurs/Beasts fans that complained about this during the first two seasons) was a mistake. The series looked great. Loved the Smilodon populator design, adored the baby Glyptotherium and my favourite segment was the Gigantopithecus focused one. Loved how they depicted Great Ape intelligence. Also I love how they got the mammoth trumk morphology right. There were a lot of design nitpicks, but I'll go into detail about them later. The series also jumped across time and space without warning, which I didn't like and feel it will propagate misinformation. They should've named which animal was which species, it would've brought obscure animal species into the public consciousness. Overall, I liked the series but it also left me dissatisfied and I think it could've done better. More on reddit.com

Enjoyable, solid episode! Unlike the dinosaur seasons, this one feels much more traditional a documentary, with fewer All Yesterdays-isms. They did seemingly make the mistake of presenting the cave bear and snow sloth stories as if they took place in the same location, but otherwise this was a good episode! I'd put it on par with the North America episode of S2, which was also traditional but well-executed. More on reddit.com
