Now Trending! Stage 32 Screenwriting Lounge: Is Truby's "premise" the same as the logline?
Although the premise certainly gives substance to a logline. Both terms are often used interchangeably and/or are used differently, depending on who is using them and various personal definitions, but they are two different yet related things. [question] What is the difference between a Premise and Synopsis for your screenplay?

ELI5 What’s the difference between a premise , logline, summary and synopsis?
Premise: what situation makes the story possible? “what if a rich young man used his resources to fight crime and corruption as a vigilante?” Logline: a snappy broad-strokes description of what to expect from the story: “After witnessing his parents’ murders as a child, a brilliant young billionaire takes on his crime-ridden city as a brooding masked hero known as The Batman.” Summary: a breakdown of the characters, their arcs, the plot, themes, etc. Synopsis: an overview of the narrative. BOOM: WRITING LOGLINES & PREMISES
A premise is something to be proved, something asserted as true; it is the writer’s truth concerning the great issues that confront human existence – the ideas and values that inform and confound us – love, death, loyalty, jealousy, prejudice. A premise states what the story is about, what it means, rather than simply recounting what happens.
