It's been about 6 months since I posted this, thought it was time to check if there are any updates - below has been updated with the info I found today (August 4, 2024).

Amazon Prime Canada has a bunch of extra channels, but they don't make it easy to learn anything about what channels are available, the cost, for how long you might get a free preview, or how to cancel a subscription.

Thank you for digging around to find this, JT's not easy to locate, they just advertise their own Prime subscription, but everything I want to watch lately is a separate rental or platform. Prime should offer an all inclusive rate.

So my Roku TV app actually makes it incredibly easy to see all of the channels. I didn't look at all the prices, but your list was pretty high up in the Google search, so I thought I would at least add the ones you missed, and give an update to one price because it pissed me off so much. CityTV+ is now 9.99 per month (doubling the price really pissed me off TBH). HiDive (anime) is a 7 day trial then 8.99 per month Willow (cricket) 8.99 monthly, 79.99 annual MLB.tv 39.99 monthly RDS (sports) regular 19.99 per month but 14.99 for your first 3. TSN regular 19.99 per month but 14.99 for your first 3. Apple TV+ 7 day free trial, 12.99 thereafter ALSO - fun fact. About once a year, most of these free trials come back if you're unsubscribed long enough. And the best part? When you go to cancel, 90% of the time, you're offered the channel for 0.99 for 3 months, or half price for 3 months - also about once a year when you're unsubscribed long enough. Considering how tight money is these days, I thought I'd highlight that last one. EDIT: it's also really easy to cancel in the Roku TV app. I can't speak for any other TV apps or consoles.

Is it any good? From what I read on several App Stores, people don’t like the selection, and I even hear some of the stuff displayed isn’t playable, even though it’s shown in the app..?

Having the app without an account, the stuff it shows looks pretty good to me (is there a way to make sure that’s the Canadian catalog btw? I can’t see any specification in the app).

I mostly want to know if it’s true that they show stuff you can’t actually watch in the catalog.

Mr. Bean, Jack Ryan, Grand Tour, Man in the High Castle, American Gods...Older movies and TV shows. Haven't had problems with not being able to watch what I want, but I'm not a frequent user.

Normally you only see your local catalog in the app. However, if you use a foreign Prime, e.g. Amazon US Prime, the app may show the US catalog which is mostly not watchable in other countries. The app does not have a country selector, even though you can view Canadian catalog via browser even with non-Canadian Prime as long as you are in Canada.
