First I will say something nice about privacy.com: Privacy.com is a useful tool for preventing merchants from over charging you or for free trial sign ups and the like, but it is not useful for preserving your privacy which is ironic because they are called privacy.com. It's mostly about hiding the fact that the same person, you, are paying to merchant A and merchant B. I've used it, primarily as a means to prevent cc fraud from having a major impact. During the pandemic, one of the several small-time payment processors that local restaurants used repeatedly got hacked, resulting in fraudulent charges on one of my credit cards. Got it replaced several times in a year. Using Privacy, I was able to figure out exactly which one, as each provider can have their own card number. It was also super convenient, as I could use their browser plugin to autofill in new credit cards for online merchants. However, their plugin recently changed the required permissions to allow it to hoover up all of your browsing behavior, instead of being passive.
