Help with setup of Bose Universal Remote | AVS Forum
I ended up figuring it out. For future reference - 1. Find the code for the specific brand. For example Sony is 0000 2. Next hold the tv button on the bose remote until it stays lit up 3.

r/bravia on Reddit: Remote pairing to Bose
December 19, 2022 -

I have a Sony KD-43X80K that came with a TX900U remote control.

For audio we use a Bose Solo TV sound system linked by optical TOSlink to the television.

Is it possible to setup the Sony remote so that it can power on/off and adjust volume of the Bose sound system?

Sony TV remotes do not have that capability. If you want to control a soundbar with a Sony TV remote it has to be connected to the TV via HDMI and support HDMI-CEC. If you want to use a single remote to control both devices when they're connected via optical cable you'll have to purchase a third party universal remote. Thread locked.

Bose Soundbar Volume Control With Sony TV | iRV2 Forums
October 14, 2019 - After this, I only need to use the DirecTV remote for sound. Generally, several weeks pass before I have to go through this process again. .......I think it just likes messing with me, since I cannot determine the cause. ... The Sony TV is connected to the Bose unit via an optical cable. There is no sound adjustment on the optical side. I believe that you can program the Bose remote to also control the Sony TV, then you only need one remote.

r/bravia on Reddit: Control volume from one remote with a Sony x900h + Bose Solo 5 Soundbar
March 19, 2020 -

Just got a 55" x900h and I absolutely love it! My only gripe is that i have to use the separate bose remote to control the volume. I hate having so many remotes around, especially since the sony Bluetooth remote is much better than the bose infared remote. I want to control the volume via the sony remote so I can retire the bose remote from my coffee table.

The Bose Soundbar does not support HDMI ARC however, so that's my major hurdle. I've looked at audio extractors/converters for HDMI ARC to Optical, but I'm still not sure that is what I need. Something about CEC passthrough being necessary for remote control? I really don't know. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a quick, cheap fix (preferably an Amazon link haha). If the cost is more than $50 I'm not interested. I can just buy a nice universal remote for a little more. Or just live with two remotes and get over my first world problem haha.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

pair my Bose sound bar to work with an Apple TV remote
First, on the Bose remote, hold down the Bluetooth button until you see a blue blinking light on the sound bar. This makes the sound bar discoverable by the Apple TV remote. Second, go in to settings and then select Bluetooth devices. You should now see the Bose device is now discoverable.
