r/feedthebeast on Reddit: Any Good Progression Modpack Centered Around Create?
November 28, 2021 -

I have yet to fully dive into Create, my only real expeirence being some minor tinkering in FTB University 1.16. But lately I've been playing SevTech Ages and absolutely love the progression, I'm about 10 hours in and playing it nice and slow, setting up a big farm and stable and a little village.

I'm wondering if there are any modpacks with this slow progression style centered around Create though, as I feel they would really work well together. Is there anything like that out there?

r/CreateMod on Reddit: Complete progress guide?
July 27, 2022 -

I struggle with picking on what to do next in video games especially Minecraft due to the only resource being constantly needed being food, so I never feel like I know what needs to be done next while I do like solving puzzles and figuring out stuff.

Is there a complete guide on recommended machines to build or at least where to start? I have tried to get into create multiple times but each time I just never know what to do next.

I am sorry if this is a common question this mod seems amazing and I want to enjoy it too, is there possibly a modpack that does this too? I saw the create above and beyond modpack but my computer might not be able to run it and It also calls itself a "challenge pack" when I know very little about the mod. But I believe it has quests and such to help guide the player.

Thanks!

r/feedthebeast on Reddit: What are the best modpacks with progression?
December 8, 2025 -

I had a Create: Above and Beyond server with a friend a couple years ago. I loved the progression system it had during that playthrough. For me, I struggle to just build for the sake of building, so having that sense of progression in Create Above and Beyond really helped me build with a feeling of purpose. Each building we made was helping progress us through the modpacks, being different automated farms and factories for the different items we needed.

Are there any more modpacks like above and beyond that are like this? I'm looking for one not 100% focused on automation, just some sort progression and maybe exploration and bosses?

"Progression" category/tag for Minecraft modpacks. | CurseForge Ideas
October 1, 2024 - A category similar to "Quests" where you have quests that are NOT optional, but required to progress in the modpack. It would help people find modpacks of that type, since the "Quests" category allows for OPTIONAL quests that doesn't need to be completed to get further into the game. Example modpacks that would have this category : SavTech: Ages, Monumental Experience, Create Arcane Engineering, Nomifactory.

r/feedthebeast on Reddit: How to do a Progression modpack right
May 4, 2023 -

The first progression pack I ever played was Exoria (loved it) and the second was SevTech (loved it.) Since then, I've been in search (as I believe many of us have) for similar progression packs, and have thoughts on how future progression packs can be done RIGHT, and how they can be done WRONG. Here they are:

- Quests

First of all, for my tastes at least, if you don't have quests, don't bother. I believe progression CAN be done without quests, but I think only the most determined and hardcore would be retained with a pack that has true progression, but no quests.

- What is "progression?"

For me, progression involves a set of steps that you absolutely MUST move through. Not that you CAN move through, but that you MUST move through. If you CAN skip a mod entirely, then it is simply not part of the progression. This is completely fine, as many mods are for appearance, mapping, quality of life, etc. Just keep in mind that any feature/item/technology that CAN be skipped is not part of progression.

- Make progression REWARDING

Sevtech did this really great, as did Exoria, requiring you to use (for example) those awful chests, or making leather one piece at a time with water bladders, or whatever. When you got to upgraded chests and leather-making, hoo boy was it a treat!

- It's OK to make me suffer

Related to the rewarding, if I progress EXTREMELY quickly past some piece of technology, or rather if something exists SIMPLY for me to move to the next thing, then you're not doing progression properly. Something that I must progress PAST, it's only worth progressing past if it had to play a part of my life for a decent amount of time. If I unlock a power generation technology (or cable, or pipe, or chest, or whatever) that is inferior, it wasn't really meaningful if I only had to use it simply to get the next best thing. It's OK to make me suffer with it for a little while.

- Your critical progression path MUST be the main bulk of your quests.

It's certainly OK to have "side quests" that don't have much progression, but they should:

  1. Be progressively unlocked by your main quest (i.e. not ALL available up front)

  2. Play only minor / supportive roles in the whole pack - if your pack has 300 quests and 250 of them are side quests, this is not a progression pack; this is simply a guided tour of mods.

- BOOKS!

Please, for the love of God, do not start me with a zillion books in my inventory! PROGRESS me to them. Remember the PROGRESSION pack you were supposedly designing?

CONCLUSION

True progression is about taking all these things and doing them RIGHT. There's only gonna be a few types of people playing modded Minecraft:

- Bitter, jaded people like me: I really don't need 65 quests on how to do Create or Botania again JUST to learn about their features. If you want to do that, make them a part of your pack's progression!

- Brand new people: who are going to be absolutely overwhelmed if you present them with a ton of options upfront (even if they're not all accomplishable right away) and don't hold their hand every step of the way. (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Paradox_of_Choice " The paradox of choice is that the diversity of our choices cause us stress and, ultimately, a feeling of trapped unhappiness.")

I suppose there are NON bitter, jaded people who might like your non-progression "progression pack" but, well, they're not writing this post, are they?

Tell me where you think I'm right, where you think I'm wrong. I'm down!

I been playing a lot of packs and ALL of them are just mods put toguether without any line of progression that makes them feel really well made, and all of them have the boring I SPENT 100 DAYS ON videos on their description.

Nowadays modpacks were fun to play and the progression with all the crafting recipes unified from different mods was orgasmic to play and now you can be op like in 1 hour playing a random modpack and it makes it really boring i feel like i dont have anything to play for, i know its a sandbox, you make your own rules but i miss those well made modpacks. Is there any modpack like this for latest versions?

hi OP I was similarly looking for newer progression modpacks on modern versions of Minecraft and here's what I found this is just a list of modern progression packs coupled with information i've found about them in reviews, which may contain opinions, but don't let others formulate opinions for you. this is just a helpful list i've tried to make with the most relavent information on the packs. 1.16.5 Rustic Waters II is a sequel to the first Rustic Waters with both Create and Immersive Engineering as its early-game. It has progression in both the resources you acquire and the amount of space you get to use. The Decursio Project is a more modern iteration of Sevtech, complete with ages (game stages). Enigmatica 6: Expert incorporates a lot of mods but is quite a bit more difficult than Engimatica 2: Expert. Feedback from other Reddit posts say that you have to hop between different genres of mods (tech, magic, adventure) during times of awkward progression. Create: Above and Beyond is a little outdated in terms of Create modpacks but is the gold standard for Create-focused modpacks. FTB Oceanblock is a themed modpack in the middle of the ocean. It emphasizes a little more on exploration than Rustic Waters II. Advancement is less guided than most other progression modpacks but has lots of custom recipes. Cuboid Outpost is a small modpack that is centered around automation from start to end. You start in an outpost on a flat dimension and are encouraged to automate resource production in the very early-game. A search for "Stacia Expert" did not result in many reviews of the pack. It is a finished pack however, but issues mentioned include a disjointed quest book. It still has planned out progression across many mods if that's what you are searching for. A mention to Pokehaan Craft 2 for all the Pokemon enjoyers who find this comment. 1.16.5 is the last version of Pixelmon before 1.20.1, and the only large and well known Pokemon modpack on that version is BigChadGuys Plus utilizing 302 mods including Cobblemon, a different Pokemon mod. 1.18.2 Vault Hunters 3rd Edition is the latest iteration in the Vault Hunters series and has gated progression of unlockable mods and skills. Unlocking them requires you to venture into "vaults," procedurally generated dungeons. The advancement is open, allowing you to choose which mods you wish to unlock first. There is also a skyblock mode as well as a less grindy arcade mode. FTB Inferno is a modpack focused around Minecolonies with Create as an integral part of its progression. You start on the Nether roof and have to advance colonies, industrial capabilities, and gear. There's quite a lot of progression in combat, and it all culminating into the return to the Overworld. The modpack features less "modern tech" mods and more steampunk-esque tech mods like Create and Immersive Engineering. FTB Stoneblock 3 is similar to the previous iterations of Stoneblock, only this time it has Create as an integral part of the early-game, and boasts a lot more custom structures to explore. Feedback says that there's integrated tiers of progression with Create opening up to ProjectE and other mods, as well as eventually creative tier items. Dawncraft may get a lot of hate but it is a combat and adventure focused pack that does have well-planned progression. It uses a Souls-like combat system unlike most combat modpacks, in addition to its quests. A greater part of people agree it's a well made pack that appeals to a certain crowd. Mechanical Mastery is widely praised by automation enjoyers for its focus on automation and automation only, as well its unique usage of ProjectE to create a balanced shop system. Ragnamod VII is the latest iteration in the modpack series. It starts the player off in the Twilight Forest where they have to make it back to the Overworld, and continue advancing from there. It's an expert pack with gated progression for sure, but definitely a less difficult one that allows decent room for choice in path of progression. 1.19.2 Techopolis 2 and most of all packs by benbenlaw are notable for their unique resource generation, with packs like Astropolis and Desertopolis having unique themes. They all generally have well planned out and rapid progression that is ideal for short playthroughs. All the Mods: Volcano Block is the skyblock-esque modpack that takes the more loose approach of the All the Mods series in progression. You start in the middle of a sprawling lava ocean with Ex Nihilio, with more resource generating methods opening as progression ensues. It definitely has a kitchen sink get-overpowered-quick whilst being restricted within a theme which is part of the charm with modpacks like this and Stoneblock. FTB Skies Expert is a skyblock modpack reliant on Create. It integrates many mods into its progression and has a lot of automation. As its a relatively modpack released 19 days ago, there are mixed opinions on its questbook and how progression is handled. As always with FTB packs however, performance is superb. FTB Genesis - I know I've listed quite a few FTB packs here, but they do have quite a few progression packs and FTB Genesis has one of the most unique themes I've ever seen. Starting in an abandoned megabase with the ability to reconfigure and reactivate its subsystems in an abandoned world was one of the modpack scenarios that I've dreamt about becoming a reality. I know I'm being a bit biased right now but it's great to have this pack be conceived, although its inclusion of tedious Agricraft as a part of its early game is a little questionable. Overall it is a medium sized modpack with well thought out progression and a great theme. Enigmatica 9 Expert is a very magic focused progression modpack that starts the player off in the Twilight Forest. Effort was put in to make the early game quicker and more streamlined, like having digital storage in the early-game. 1.20.1 All The Mods - Gravitas 2 and TerraFirmaGreg are both progression modpacks with focuses on TerrafirmaCraft and Gregtech. They integrate TerraFirmaCraft into their progressions quite well despite its known un-compatibility. All The Mods 9 is more unfinished but has a larger variety of content mods like Ice and Fire. TerraFirmaGreg focuses mainly on four key tech mods as well as the aforementioned TerraFirmaCraft. 1.12.2 and below MeatballCraft, whilst being in an older version, is one of the only 1.12.2 progression packs still in active development. The modpack is a swan song and tribute to all the great magitech progression modpacks of the past like: This is a list of modpacks that are iconic but are not necessarily related to MeatballCraft: Enigmatica 2 Expert, Divine Journey 2, SevTech, the Project Ozone Series, the Skyfactory series, FTB Interactions, Rebirth of the Night, Nomifactory, Dungeons Dragons and Space Shuttles, Stoneblock 1 & 2, Forever Stranded, Regrowth, Blightfall, Crash Landing, Age of Engineering, FTB Infinity Evolved, Agrarian Skies Meatballcraft mixes a fun kitchen sink of an early-game with a gated progression during mid-late-game. The combat has challenging difficulty that scales well and isn't completely nullified just by upgrading armor. The player is able to automate in the early-game as an abundance of resources is available during that stage. There is an abundance of content and a grand integration of nearly every popular mod currently implemented, with broad progression checkpoints and loads of custom content. GTNH edit: additional modpacks 1.16.5 there's also Chroma Technology 2, Sky Bees 2, and Cave Factory 1.18.2 there's Multiblock Madness 2, Chroma Endless 2, Project Sacrifice, SkyT, Create Astral, and Create Arcane Engineering 1.19.2 has Minecraft Chocolate Edition, UniversIO, Statech Industry, M-Tech, and Create Stellar 1.20.1 Craft to Exile 2, and the All of Fabric Series sports some level of progression with its quests and modern industrialization mod. This isn't exactly what OP may have asked for but, ATM9 is the only main series ATM pack so far to feature Gregtech and generally has more gates than other ATM packs.

August 26, 2023 -

Me and my friend are playing through Sevtech Ages again. And are in age 4 getting started for the trip to the moon. Both her and I have said we'd love to see a Sevtech Ages Pack for 1.20 sometime in the future. Personally I like packs with a clear quest system / goals. Where you end up dipping into a lot of different mods. While there are a few packs we enjoy for 1.12.2. We'd like to try something in newer versions. (Honestly, like 1.16 or newer would be nice)

Some of the modpacks we enjoyed the most, played the most. Sevtech ages, Stone Block 2, Vault Hunters 3rd edition, Project Ozone 3 (Though my friend lags too much for us to really play it much). We've tried many different skyblock based modpacks for 1.12.2. But none have really kept our attention for long. We've also played a few pixelmon mod-packs. But honestly, those don't tend to last even a day with us.

I'm thinking playing Sevtech Ages of the Sky sometime could be fun. But doing so, so soon after finishing the Sevtech mod-pack. Doesn't seem like it'd hold my interest very long.

Preferably a Progression style mod-pack. Playing through something with a newer version of Twilight Forest in it would be fun. I like both Tech and Magic mods. My friend likes to dig big holes. Something with interesting mods you don't normally get to use or see would be fun as well. (I enjoy the processes of learning new things, and figuring out how to put things to use).

Any suggestions?
