Hi! I used progressive leasing to buy a mattress in November. I was sure I would be able to pay it off in 90 days because of extra money coming in. Then life happened and that money went to an emergency. What happens if I stop making payments 6 months in to this money sucking scam?
I know this helps the store's bottom line, but I, as a salesperson, do not want to be the face of fucking over our customers. Even at the lowest amount of $300, they end up paying $706, minus the $79 fee to walk out the door with the merchandise.
It damages my reputation and I make sure to explain to customers what they are getting into before they apply for leasing. And BTW, Progressive Leasing had NO impact on a customer's credit score. They say they will send a letter to the 3 credit agencies at your request, but this has little to no effect to establishing or improving credit.
So I went to lease a laptop the other day. I was told with the progressive leasing theres no payment today. But when I was reading the contract it said "$xx due at lease signing." So I when I brought it up and said "oh, so there is money due today?" The guy couldnt give me a straight answer so I walked out. I really need the laptop for my classes (and yes I know ill be paying double im not worried about that) but i just want to know if i should expect money to leave my account immediately or not? Why cant someone just answer a simple yes or no?
This is awful and I don’t wanna be to this point but anyone have experience with not paying your lease with progressive leasing because you got in over your head like an asshole? I can’t return the product so what happens if I don’t pay. Jail? Court? Collections? People coming to your house?
Thanks, and if your seeing this, make better choices then me.
Hello everyone, i see a lot of negative things about progressive leasing and I just have a few questions about it. In simple terms if I pay it off within the 90 days I am only paying the original retail price + the original progessive leasing fee and if I do not pay it off within those 90 days the price is pretty much doubled and I pay that over a year or so. is that correct? If that is correct why do so many people think this is dangerous other then the doubling of price being absolutely crazy.
I want to get phones through progressive leasing. Is it hard to get approved?
Hello everyone I recently went to BestBuy and was told that instead of paying the $500 out of pocket for a new phone I could lease the phone around 40 something dollars a month (with option to pay it off whenever I wanted)
I thought this was a great deal and because I was a good customer at Best Buy and buy all my electronics there that's why I was offered this deal never hearing of it before
( let me clarify something my phone was 750 plus tax which came out to 800 I traded in my phone for 300 and brought the price down to 500)
So I download the app they told me about to manage payments and now the app says I owe 600 more to my phone which I just paid $81 down payment for so my total should have been $419
Now I realize I have been scammed because either Best Buy didn't know what they was talkin about ( they did mention this service was relatively new) the thing they made me sign was through a text message and believing what Best Buy said I did not read any of the print which I understand is a huge mistake on my part
I only did this earlier today. What are my options? Can I return the phone tomorrow? do any of you have experience with something like this? Would I have better experience going to Best Buy where the phone was purchased or calling Progressive Leasing?
Don't want to be ripped off $150 because Best Buy didn't inform me but it looks like that's the case for now
EDIT: the receipt in front of me says the total of the phone so I'm very confused on what changed from talking to the employee and coming home
Stupidly applied for PL and got approved for $1600, got an iPhone 15 pro max at the cricket store and didn’t realize til I got home that I was going to pay $3.2k back for this phone. My payments are $135 bi weekly for 12months (haven’t called for 90 day option). Anybody have any experience with unpaid debt to this company? Constant calls? Debt settlements? Court?
Lady at cricket made it seem like I was only paying $1600 and rushed me out the door so I was completely blind sided. “Just click this, put your info here and check these boxes”
Update 01/05/24 Returning this phone immediately! 90 day option wasn’t much better of a deal so Verizon here I come! Thank you all for the input!
It’s back on Friday. Thoughts?
I know they got in a f*ck ton of trouble recently and had to pay a bunch of people back, so idk if I'm getting this because of that, if it's a scam, or because quite honestly I faultered on my payments when my fiance lost their job security (they were told they could transfer stores and it fell through) and due to the late fees I've literally not been able to catch up.
I'm really hoping it's legit because honestly at this point it's the only way I'll be able to catch up and pay it off in time 🥲💔
Bro 140% interest is INSANE. Even more crazy is people STILL go forward with it for fun purchases.
I did progressive leasing on a $2.1k pc. The total price over the course of 12 months is like $4.3k. My co-worker said he had a progressive leasing loan and he just closed his bank account and never paid. He said it didn't affect his credit and nothing happened. Has anyone ever done this? what was the amount? Did you get marks on your credit score?
Alright, so here's my situation: Yesterday my poor laptop of 4 years broke, so now I have to get a new one. Now, there was this nice 750 dollar laptop which I've been looking to get, but I don't have 750 at the moment. However, Best Buy offered to give me a progressive leasing option where I could pay the 750 in increment payments over 3 months (I live in California if that helps), so I chose that option. They told me that I wouldn't pay any interest if I pay the total cost within 3 months which I'm certain I can do, and I need a new laptop ASAP since I'm a college student. In addition, I have next to no credit score. So why is progressive leasing so controversial on this sub?
Tl;Dr: looking to buy a 750 dollar laptop throught the 3 month option for progressive leasing, which seems like I just pay in increments total to the cost of buying upfront (and I'm almost certain I can pay it off within the 3 months). So why is progressive leasing so controversial, and would it be good in my circumstances?
You never have your shit in order.
You use one card to get the lease. Then you claim that card has no money on it when it's time to charge the lease.
You just waste our time with people that actually have money.
I hate getting customers on progressive leasing because it feels predatory. Much more than a credit card. Saw this and speculated why these states and PR don’t allow it.
I was aproved for P.L and was wondering if I could change it to the 90 days option through the app or is it only by calling ?
