January 6, 2021 - The laptop device manager shows the connection as a USB Controller D under Other Devices vs. a Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port under Ports (Com and LPT). This prevents the software I need to connect to my equipment from working. This issue appears to be unique to HP laptops as both of personal and business laptop exhibit the same behavior.
