How do you pronounce "a"?
Regarding the word "a," that's not actually a rule, as the pronunciation will depend on a person's dialect/accent, whether they're stressing the word, or even just their personal preference. That said, it's true that the word "a" is usually pronounced as a schwa (the uh sound), but it will generally be pronounced ay (or sometimes ah) when stressed (and this pronunciation often signals that the word is intended to mean "(just) one"): "Can I have a [uh] cookie?" [You are given two cookies.] "Oh, thanks, but I said a [ay] cookie." Note: There are two ways to say ‘a’ when it is used as an indefinite article, these two pronunciations are: “aye” (/eɪ/) or “uh” (/ə/). Both pronunciations are correct and it is really a matter of personal preference which one you use. Most American (as well as Brits and Australians) use both forms, switching between the two depending on which one flows best with the word that follows ‘a’. I mean, English orthography sucks so much in regards to pronunciation correlation that you have quite some freedom regarding correct pronunciation. And realistically, both in and out of universe people will still pronounce your words differently in different regions and social groups. If some pronounciation is important to me, I just write it in IPA symbols on a phonemic level. More on reddit.com

I was taught both by English professors and one of the head announcers at CBS Radio that the word that is spelled "a" is always pronounced "uh", but the letter A is pronounced "ay", that rhymes with "hay". In recent years I hear more articulate people breaking this rule. What is Reddit's opinion?

So I basically just want to know if there’s an app/website that you know that can pronounce made up worlds. Like this name here “Shamól”. I don’t know how to pronounce it correctly because of speaking difficulties. So I’m wondering if there’s a website or something you guys use to know how to pronounce made up words correctly.

I generally create my words based on how I say them. So I’ll speak out the word I want to create, and then generate the spelling of the word based on how it sounds.
