Wood burning vs. Propane Fire Pits: Which is better for the environment? – Neighbor
Both options have pros and cons, and the "better" choice may depend on specific circumstances and how they are used. Propane and gas fire pits burn cleaner than wood, with little to no smoke or sparks.
People also ask

What does BTU mean for a fire pit, and how many BTUs do I need?
BTU, or British Thermal Unit, measures heat output. For cozy warmth, a fire pit with 40,000 Btu to 50,000 Btu is often sufficient, while larger gatherings or colder climates may benefit from a fire pit with 60,000 Btu or more to feel the most heat.

r/landscaping on Reddit: Help!! Urgent!!! Propane VS Wood-burning fire pit table! Which one is better!!!
November 24, 2023 -

We just knew that our friend and her family will come to Malibu for vacation in early December, and our family is planning to have their family over to our new home, thus having a party in our yard then. But I've been agonizing with my family for a long time about which fire pit table to buy!

Propane fire pit tables are a popular choice due to their convenience and ease of use, but fuel can be more expensive. A wood-burning one offers a traditional and rustic ambiance, but it produce smoke and emissions.

Is there a perfect answer or not? We want to catch the last bus on Black Friday. So please help us if you have any advice. Thanks a lot!!!

May 14, 2023 - Their fire pits come with a built-in regulator and an eight-foot hose that connects to standard propane bottles, making them easy to use and transport. Ignik’s fire pits also feature a stainless steel burner that produces up to 38,000 BTUs of heat, making them ideal for chilly nights. One of the downsides of propane fire pits is that they can be a bit more expensive to operate. Propane fuel is generally more expensive than wood, and you’ll need to refill your propane bottles periodically.

Answer (1 of 5): Probably not a good idea although I use propane in my clay oven to maintain a flame with wood to bake outside. Propane is dangerous stuff. You need to study it a bit more than directly injecting propane not a fire.
