July 25, 2024How difficult (or is it even possible) to convert a fire pit table from propane to natural gas?
With the correct adapters one could hook u an LP table to NG with very little repercussion other than the flames won’t be as big. LP packs more BTU per cubic foot than NG. You can’t accidentally send too much gas because the regulator for the LP will stop you from being able to do so. Theoretically one could swap the regulator but im not sure I would bother. PLEASE NOTE THIS DOES NOT WORK IN REVERSE!!!! Dont hook up NG appliances to propane without a proper retrofit kit More on reddit.com

So as the title states I'm doing research for a natural gas fire pit. I have a gas line for my pool heater near where I want to build the fire pit so I planned on extending this for the fire pit (my BIL is a plumber so he would help with gas piping). After looking into it, it seems way more expensive to build my own with landscape blocks, purchase a burner table, burner controls, burner than to just by one already assembled. Am I going about this wrong?

I’m well over a thousand dollars and this isn’t even including the rocks to fill the pan, material for gas pipe, etc. Anyone have experience with this?

When we moved into our house the previous owners had built a fire pit off to the side of the house. When it cooled off I decided to move it. I grabbed the first brick and it crumbles into dust. I soon realized they used no fire bricks and no pan. When I tried to throw it away the garbage man said they wouldn't take it. I had to throw out a couple bricks at a time for over a year.

I have a wood burning outdoor fire pit that I want to convert to propane. My thought is to get a conversion kit to install in the drum of the fire pit. I would place lava rocks on the grate, conversion kit rings on top, then cover with some smaller media like glass rocks and viola. Is it really that simple?
Am I missing some major step like adding vent holes or something else that may prevent it from being so simple?
