Understand that both are subscription services to the dealers. Some dealers pay for better exposure/listings and much of their pricing is done by listing services to keep their cars priced competitively. Also be aware that some dealers list very low prices (Florida dealers are exceptionally famous for this) but then hit you with crazy fees when you actually try to buy it. So to answer your question, I don't put a lot of faith in either of them for just "deal" classifications and ultimately you need to be comparing to other local vehicles. More on reddit.com

I can’t help but wonder why you went through with it if it was so awful? I also find the price you get for your car is directly correlated to the amount of effort you put in. Trying to sell your car from your couch is never going to get you anywhere near the amount it is really worth. Listing it privately takes a lot of time and effort (the worst being idiots who ask to see the car and don’t bother showing in the end -wasting your weekend) but you do get a good amount more. I tried something similar, they offered me quite literally 25% of what my car was worth. Absolutely absurd. More on reddit.com

October 13, 2025 - We have had it for a pretty long time and tried bigger packages, extras, etc. but the pricing is just getting out of hand and have been happy with the base paid package for about 6 months or so now. For us, there just wasn't a lot of extra sales or gross being made to justify the hefty extra costs. I think we may have tried a free version early on or a very low cost trial but that was years ago when CarGurus was new in the game.
