AMAZING. Total game changer. Here’s my review after spending a couple nights with it. For context, I’m a side sleeper that frequently struggles with neck pain. I haven’t woke up with any since trying this pillow for the first time.
Super comfortable and lightweight, the DreamLayer pillow has just the right amount of firmness and height, which I felt was lacking from the two previous Purple styles that I tried beforehand: Original Purple and Harmony (Standard-Tall). DreamLayer takes the best parts from those two styles, and has the same construct/appearance of the Original Purple pillow, only substantially less heavier. It also has the same jelly-like honeycomb texture of the Harmony pillow along its top outer layer, and soft-like memory foam material with just the right amount of firmness. So basically, it’s like a super comfy rectangular marshmallow.
Using it for the first time, I noticed the pillow cradled and conformed to my head perfectly, and didn’t drop or sink too deep into the pillow either - I’d say about halfway only. While laying on my side, my neck was supported perfectly, and I could easily relax my arm underneath the pillow. That was a HUGE plus.
On a final note, the pillow also includes a stretchy pillow case with built-in slots for boosters (two boosters are included). The slots keep the boosters secured and prevent them from shifting around - WIN!
All in all, I am so happy with this pillow. If you’re curious about trying it, DO NOT hesitate. You just might love it too!
Edit - I ended up purchasing the Dreamlayer to try a second time. I don’t know if it was softer than the first one or if I’m just more used to memory foam after sleeping on a Tempurpedic Cloud but it was pretty comfortable without the extra boosters. The purple grid doesn’t stay cold very long, which is a bummer and besides the grid it doesn’t feel any different than my Cloud pillow which was less than half the price of the Dreamlayer, so I’m returning it (again).
I’m SO disappointed. Based on reviews and descriptions I thought this would be the perfect pillow. I don’t know if my head is weird or it’s because I have a really soft bed but I hardly sink into it at all, I found it to be very firm. It reminds me of the original Purple pillow with just a tiny bit more give. I thought the squared off edge might help my shoulders because as a side sleeper they tend to bug me. But all it did was put pressure on my neck. It didn’t conform to my neck/shoulder at all. I did sleep on it for a few hours until neck pain woke me up. Sadly, it’s getting returned.
I do love the cooling effect of the Purple grid. My low Harmony was great until it felt too low, the middle Harmony was shaped differently and too bouncy. I think I might try the Freeform next. Since right now my “this is adequate” pillow is an adjustable foam Coop.
