Late reply, but I hope it can still help. My husband and I have had our mattress and duvet for about 3 or 4 weeks now. He sleeps hot, and I sleep cold. Because of this, we eventually moved to using separate comforters in the same bed (a trick we learned from a trip to Germany). Prior to the duvet, he would sleep with a thin, gauze-y sheet and a light blanket/comforter, and he'd alternate between using the former or both depending on how hot he was sleeping that night. Meanwhile, I'd start out with my electric blanket on usually at max and cocoon myself inside a regular-thickness comforter from Walmart. We got the duvet when we got the Purple mattress, and this is the first time in a few years that we've both been able to sleep under the same comforter, even cuddling, and not had me freeze or him roast. (For reference, we always keep the bedroom at 64 degrees F, and we are also using the Purple sheets over a Purple 4.) With our old shared comforter, he would often throw it off himself and sleep with only a sheet halfway through the night, but he says he's been keeping this duvet on all night comfortably, and I haven't gone for my electric blanket since we put on Purple's mattress protector (it definitely minimizes the deep chill that the mattress is capable of--I felt like I had my back to an open deep freezer when first laying on the mattress those first two nights without it). Sorry to hear you are upset… but… The return policy clearly states you are responsible for shipping fees if you return bedding items. Note the mattress is a free return.

Just Consider how heavy those sheets are and the shipping fees the company has to eat because you changed your mind….I don’t know if you are aware but purple as a company is not currently profitable… as in they are underwater- the company loses millions despite actually selling products!! In other words they spend more than they make! Negative earnings. What I’m trying to say is they can’t afford to just keep eating losses. As a publicly traded company, their stock price is getting destroyed and in an area where any competitor could buy them out. They actually currently have an offer on the table where they might be taken private by a company that has acquired majority share ownership.

If you were the company paying for this situation you would probably not want to be out all this money for shipping either. They Actually accepted your return- but I get you are upset about them not taking it at a store- they really should

Edit: all that said - you should have either kept the purple set to try it at the least and/or returned whatever other set you picked up…( if that’s why all of a sudden you didn’t need a purple set)

I genuinely understand your frustration- Amazon has been a game changer for free shipping and return shipping. It’s spoiled us all! But remember Purple isn’t Amazon. They had to pay to send those sheets to you and now pay to return them- I get it, it sucks! I remember Newegg doing this to me on a mouse- so I decided to keep it and learned my lesson about brick and mortar and Amazon shopping.

But again I agree, the Purple store should have accepted it- but I’m guessing they may not have able to for some reason ( like computer not being able to process SKUs from other places outside of the store. )

Did you try asking for a manager? Their Customer support is usually great.

I got some Purple sheets along with the mattress and they were so good, I went back and ordered the luxury version (SoftStretch). On both kinds, the fitted sheet wraps almost the entire mattress so it doesn’t budge, and has a tag in large print that says HEAD/FOOT so you know which is the short side. The regular ones are soft enough, and the luxury ones are very soft. They’re also strong. I’ve had them over a year and they look new. Best I’ve ever owned. More on reddit.com
