Pycharm Community Edition or Pycharm 2025.1 or later are both free. Pycharm 2025.1 has more features than community edition, even for free users. Based on what I read, you should not need a license to run Pycharm for the free features. I just start the course python so i needed to download pycharm after python but it seems like i need some kind of activetion code or something like that. How people are using that for free ?

You probably downloaded the professional very by mistake, The PyCharm Community Edition download is in the black section of the page. https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/download If your using toolbox, it also has a separate download.

PyCharm community is free I followed the instructions from a video titled “python full course” by freecodecamp that’s like four hours long and it works well Also when you inevitably run into your cursor replacing text in PyCharm when you don’t want it to you gotta hit the insert button Have fun take care
