Let the Python bindings be installed with pip on their own by TrevorHansen · Pull Request #1175 · stp/stp
The Python bindings are pure Python: they load libstp through ctypes and compile nothing, so one copy works under every Python 3. But the only way to install them was a full STP CMake configure, which installs into one interpreter's site-packages.

r/learnpython on Reddit: Question about python bindings
February 1, 2024 -

In Linux I am installing an Analog Devices Inc "driver" called libsmu. The driver is for their Active Learning Module ADALM1000. Four paragraphs down the libsmu documentation it says, "If you want to install the python bindings..." but nowhere does it say why or what they are used for. I am only just getting acquainted with python, so I haven't learned what bindings do. Can someone give me a clue as to why they seem to be an option to install? Thanks. Edit: This page has a little more information than the documentation page above.
