I just finished it as my first foray into Python and I can say that it was 100% worth the price of admission. The book is well written and easy to digest with exercises throughout to reiterate and challenge what you’ve learned up to that point, also the last section of the book is 3 projects, 1 with Pygame, 1 using tools like MatPlotLib and Plotly for data visualisation and finally creating a web app with Django and deploying on Heroku. You learn a lot from the book but it also helps when things go wrong because you learn a lot from trying to figure out why and how to resolve it, the book is a great starting point. I’ve also got Automate the boring stuff to do now and a course from Udemy called 100 days of Python. I’m the meantime I’ve started my own small project of making a darts scoring program for when I play on my own or vs a friend, it’s simple but it’s challenging enough for me to continue on with what I picked up from PCC. If you purchase this book you won’t regret it but as someone else said, have a few other resources in the pipeline to continue your learning too! More on reddit.com

the only way I can retain stuff is by using it in actual projects, if I just read something once, I wont remember how to use it, I may remember that it exists and think to query it on a search engine if I need it, but to actually burn it into muscle memory I need to use it in a project, do stuff like on r/dailyprogrammer or similar, and stuff will start to stick
