I noticed my engine started misfiring a lot and it got worse over time I did a little diag on it and decided I should install new fuel injectors. I went to the parts department where I work and they ordered me some python remanufactured fuel injectors. Today I installed them and when I first started my engine it ran really well but when I took it for a test drive it started misfiring a little again then a lot. I adjusted the timing on the distributor and thought all was well but on my way home I lost pretty much all power and pulled off into a gas station. My engine idle was extremely low when I stopped (250-300rpm) I killed the engine and got out and noticed a gray/white smoke coming from the exhaust. It smelt like gasoline sure enough. I made sure all the vacuum lines were where they needed to be and didn’t see any fuel leaks. I drive a 1994 Toyota pickup 22-re and I’m wondering if it’s possible that I just got bad remanufactured fuel injectors that are possibly stuck open. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Most "reman" fuel injectors are actually Chinese knockoffs stamped as OE: we are seeing this practice a lot with Siemens VDO (now Continental) fuel injectors used on some BMW engines. Whoever these folks are they are flooding the market with these knockoffs. I suspect this is what you got: these knockoffs are absolutely terrible.
Toyota still sells fuel injectors for those engines: bad news is they are $150/each. You can definitely understand why these knockoffs are so popular.
Solution to save you some money and a lot of headaches: look for Bosch injectors for this engine. They ended production but you can still find stock. A set of four is $350/300.
