Getting Started with Python in VS Code
November 3, 2021 - This command helps you create a requirements.txt file that lists all the packages installed in your virtual environment. This file can then be used to recreate the same environment elsewhere. ... When you create a new environment using Python: Create Environment or the + button in the Environment Managers view, the extension automatically detects and installs dependencies from requirements.txt or pyproject.toml if present in your workspace.

Is there a Python package manager for Visual Studio Code?
However, in VSC you have to use pip which may point to another interpreter Well, don't let your pip point to a different interpreter's packages directory, is the answer here. If your pip and your python don't agree on where packages go then your environment is broken and you should fix it. If you want to browse packages go to https://pypi.org/ . Typically when you want to install a package you already know exactly which one. More on reddit.com

How to set up python on vs code
I would suggest that you start off with Thonny IDE, as it requires virtually no "setting up", and even includes Python so that you don't need to set up Python either. It's a great IDE for beginners. When you have outgrown Thonny you will know a lot more about Python, so setting up vscode or PyCharm should be a lot easier for you. More on reddit.com

r/learnpython on Reddit: Is there a Python package manager for Visual Studio Code?
March 25, 2020 -

IDEs such as PyCharm and Thonny have a package manager (GUI) where you can install Python packages graphically so you don't have to use the pip command. Is there a similar thing for Visual Studio Code?

This would be especially useful when you have multiple Python interpreters installed (which most of us do). In PyCharm or Thonny, the package is installed for the current interpreter set for that particular project. However, in VSC you have to use pip which may point to another interpreter and not necessarly to the one you have currently set for your VSC project.

Edit: I use the green triangle button to run the code in VSC. That buttons uses the full path of the current selected interpreter.
