There's no type called Stack in the Python standard library. The list type supports all the operations of a stack and thus can be used as one, which is the easiest option: stack = [] stack.append(1) # Push stack[-1] # Peek stack.pop() # Pop There's also collections.deque if performance is a concern. "Deque" stands for "double-ended queue" and is an efficient data structure that can be used as either a stack or a queue. For context, my comment has to do with memory management. You may be thinking of the concept of a "stack," which refers to a collection of objects. These objects are pushed and popped from the stack similarly to how you add a plate to a — well — stack of plates. You "push" (or set) one on top, and then you "pop" (or take) whichever plate is the last one you put on the stack. You don't take from the middle or the beginning, only the end. To describe this concept with four words: last in, first out. This has several uses, especially in lower level programming, but you probably won't have to worry about it in Python unless your logic requires this behavior.

I have made a module that defines how to create a stack, and I have another that imports it to make the stack. For basic purposes I have used a range of (1,10).
My output is currently
pushing 1 on to stack// pushing 2 on to stack//...etc popping 9 off of stack// popping 8 off of stack//...etc
what I want is to create a function that will stop this right before it starts popping to allow the user to enter a number, and see in it is in the stack. And then for the program to pop the rest off when the user is done.

Wow, you and u/Classical31 use the same code for a wierd stack implentation: source . You can use a simple list to achive this, or if you want to implement a stack by yourself, check out some OOP first, it is the better way to achieve this.
