The V1 is an unbelievable keyboard for its price. There are basically no downsides to it with it being south facing rgb, hot swappable, has qmk/via support, pcb mount stabilisers etc. It’s easily the best entry level ‘enthusiast’ board. The Q1 is on a whole other level though. It’s made of metal (which isn’t massively important but does raise the cost) and is gasket mount instead of tray mount which the v1 is. That’s not necessarily a bad thing if you prefer a super firm and solid feel though. If you start with a V1 the chances are you’ll end up at some point upgrading to the Q1 further on down the line. I would bet almost all of the price difference is due to materials. The V1 has an ABS plastic case whereas the Q1 is fully aluminum. Aluminum is heavier and can have appealing sound characteristics compared to plastic. The Q1 is a great keyboard and I think it's a good value, but if you're looking to keep it cheap the V1 would be just fine and opens up some more room for trying different switches and keycaps to dial in what you like.

Hi, I'm interested in buying one of the Q series Keychron keyboards. Can you please tell me what are the main differences between the Q1 V1 and V2 models? Also, is it worth paying extra for the V2 version? Additionally, I would like to know if the only difference between the Q1 Pro and the other models is its wireless feature.

Q1 knob version and Q1 version 2 are the same. They differ from the Q1V1 as they have the force break mod already installed as well as a few other improvements. And a knob obviously. It is definitely worth getting the V2 over the V1. The Pro version has wireless and a polycarbonate plate instead of steel. And different keycaps. Unless you really want wireless I’d get the Q1V2. I’m very happy with mine so far.

Hi all.
Title above is probably a bit provocative. Reddit asked me for something interesting. I'm sure it's been asked before or something similar so here goes.
Ignoring the slight layout difference, why would one prefer the Q1 over the, say K2? I'm referring to the hot swap version of course.
From what I've read (and I don't profess to have read all the ins and outs of the different models). But like for like is the K2 with bluetooth connectivity a better buy.

The major advantage with the Q1 is that it supports QMK out of the box, which allows you do do all sorts of customizations at the firmware level for re-mapping keys, creating macros, and much more. I'm told QMK does not support bluetooth which is why the Q1 is a wired board. The fact that the Q1 has a full aluminum case, is highly customizable and has a pretty decent sound with just a few simple mods is all a bonus. It all depends on your needs/wants.. if bluetooth is important to you, go with the K2, if you want to build custom firmware then go with Q1.

The Q1 is higher build quality and more customizable. It’s more inline with higher end custom mech keyboards while the original K series isn’t as well built but it does have Bluetooth. It really depends if you have the money and want a higher build quality or just want an intro mech keyboard that works with Mac. The K2 is great, I assume (don’t own one but I do own a K4 and K3) and while the K3 is a better build quality, the slim isn’t really for me. The K4 is great but after messing with higher end keyboards, it’s hard to look at it as an amazing keyboard. The K series are great introductions to mechanical keyboards but the Q series is an even better introduction to the hobby of modding and customization. So it really depends on you. Do you care about having a fully metal case where you can add different stabilizers, custom badges, different frames, mods, and all or do you care more about Bluetooth and ease of use.
