Qatar has been a key financial supporter of the Palestinian militant organization Hamas, transferring more than $1.8 billion to Hamas over the years. In consultation with the U.S. and Israeli governments, $30 … Wikipedia

Nothing new. Bob Woodward spoke about Blinken's visit to Qatar in 2023 shortly after Oct 7th.. And I quote.. “Two things on behalf of the president,” Blinken said to the Emir. “Right now you’re dealing with Hamas for the hostages. We recognize the value of having a channel to negotiate the release of hostages,” Blinken relayed, “but when this is over, it can’t continue to be business as usual with Hamas. That’s out.” “I understand and it won’t be,” the Emir said. “I don’t need it anymore. I don’t want to have obstacles with America. We’ll keep the channel open now because you find it useful. Our relationship with America is very important.” My guess is that the Democrats are certain Trump will ask Qatar for that as soon as he becomes president, to score some quick points and market them as a 'victory' to his supporters. So, they might be willing to take that away from him. As for Qatar itself. Trust me, it's much deeper than hosting a bunch of khamas officials. And as for khamas itself. Those have balls of steel. Their leader died fighting even tho he could have easily stayed in safety. Israel can't reach 101 hostages in Gaza already I am sure had Sinwar wanted to be unreachable person number 102 it couldn't have been easier. Yet he chose to fight. They will survive regardless of what Qatar chooses to do.
