time spent with loved ones which is in some way special
Current SAHP to a 2 year old girl and 4 year old boy. My kids are growing up so quickly, but I also realize this phase is unique in that they both depend on me for almost everything still. If they need something, I have to make it happen, and if they want to do something for fun, that’s also all me.
We do lots of hands-on learning activities together as I am a former elementary school teacher. We have a nice balance of independent play time and then more structured activities that I put together.
But soon, they will have their own hobbies and gadgets and whatnot and it’s hard to even picture them just doing their own thing since I’m still very much in the thick of it right now.
So… for those of you with kids who are maybe 8 and older: How do you spend “quality time” with your kids when they don’t necessarily need to be entertained by you anymore like when they’re little? What does bonding and playtime look like for your family? Any hobbies you all actually enjoy doing together? Places you go? How do you stay close when your kids become more independent?
