What Is Qualitative vs. Quantitative Study? | National University
Quantitative research is typically carried out via tools (such as questionnaires) instead of by people (such as a researcher asking interview questions). Do Data Analyst Deal With Both Quantitative and Qualitative Data?
You can import your SQL data into R then use the text mining package, I did this to give HR better insight on qualitative questions in their annual employee engagement survey, some will argue Python is better but I just used R as I wanted to get it onto my CV..was able to establish correlation between words and used a matrix and frequency of terms per age, sex, department, role, geographic location albeit a bit basic but you can implement stop words to filter out the trash and they had no current solution to enhance More on reddit.com

In your opinion, what's the biggest difference between "data science" and "quantitative research methods?"

Bit of a shower thought here. But really: is "data science" just "qualitative research" with 21-st century window dressing, or is there something categorically different about it?

Which is it? Quantitative or qualitative?

Quantitative research is very well suited to establishing cause-and-effect relationships, to testing hypotheses and to determining the opinions, attitudes and practices of a large population, whereas qualitative research lends itself very well to developing hypotheses and theories and to describing processes such as decision making or communication processes.

June 26, 2024 - For example any survey that asks you to rank things using "strongly agree", "agree", "neither agree nor disagree" etc. is converting your opinion into numbers, which then can be evaluated using quantitative methods. In theory this type of analysis should be generalizable to broader populations. Qualitative methods uses descriptions, notes from interactions, and dialogue to create an understanding of the experience.

Qualitative data can be translated into quantitative data. For example, you could count the number of times interviewees used a particular word to describe your product to yield quantitative data. Similarly, quantitative methods of analysis require you to explain what the patterns mean and connect them to other parts of your business—a qualitative exercise!
