Quetzalcoatlus - Wikipedia
1 week ago - Historical interpretations of the diet of Quetzalcoatlus have ranged from scavenging to skim-feeding like the modern skimmer bird. However, more recent research has found that it most likely hunted small prey on the ground, in a similar way to storks and ground hornbills.

r/Dinosaurs on Reddit: What dinosaur is the quetzalcoatlus eating?
February 25, 2023 -

I’ve seen this image for a while and just assumed that the quetzalcoatlus was so big it could eat a brachiosaurus but later found out that it’s still pretty big but not that big so is it supposed to be eating a baby one then or a diffrent dinosaur all together? Or is this just some art and the dinosaur in question isn’t a real thing?

People also ask

Is a Quetzalcoatlus bigger than the T- Rex?
No. Quetzalcoatlus was not as big as the T-Rex. The Tyrannosaurus rex stood at 20 feet and was up to 40 feet long. With a weight of up to 30,000 pounds, the biggest Quetzalcoatlus would have been no match for it.

Quetzalcoatlus - Pteros
Thanks to finds in Argentina, we know that sauropods probably flooded the environment with their precocious offspring by nesting en masse. With a high growth rate to maturity, taking just under 15 years to reach near-adult sizes, these baby sauropods may likely have made up a large proportion of the diets of the largest, and possibly both Quetzalcoatlus species.

Answer (1 of 6): Quetzalcoatlus was originally evaluated as a piscivore aka fish-eater; this assumption was not limited to Azhdarchidae but most pterosaurs had a piscivore bias automatically applied to their paleo-ecology. Quetzalcoatlus northropi. [1] The Jurassic pterosaurs dimorphodon was or...

May 27, 2024 - The diet is often compared to that of the marabou stork, which scavenged carrion but was also able to hunt smaller animals. However, a lack of physical qualities seen in typical scavenger species, such as a hooked beak, does not support the scavenger theory. Instead, it suggests Quetzalcoatlus fed like the present-day skimmers, sieving prey out of the water.

Extinct Animal of the Week: The Diet of A Giant
April 4, 2012 - Douglas Lawson found the first Quetzalcoatlus remains (that we know of; it is rather convenient that Mesoamerican mythology has a "feathered serpent god") and three years later rejected the idea of piscivorous diet. He, instead, opted for a scavenger's diet spotting carcasses from kills and natural death from the sky and gliding down to commandeer the animal from others in order to take a fairly easy meal.
