I'm not kidding I've been thinking about writing a similar post the last few hours. I had ChatGPT provide me with an outline to structure my essay based on key points I wanted to focus on. Then I wrote the paper myself. Every other AI detector is reporting back 100% human text. For some odd reason, quillbot is telling me anywhere from 33-60% in random sections I wrote on my own. Feel like I never should have checked anyways and was just being paranoid. Now I'm worried I'm totally screwed. Answer from Deleted User on reddit.com

So I did use gpt for my essay but simply for idea and how to expand things, and more points I could make, I never copy pasted off it. So i put my essay though Zerogpt, grammaly, Ai detector, and all of them said human written or giving me low percentage, but quill Bot is giving me 57% chance ai text generated.???

Just use a “more human” ai or use a mix of both, if you mix together it’s harder to recognize. My recommendation is to go on LLm arena and experiment a little bit, Claude 3 opus is great, for example. (Honestly I switched to it)
Does using Quillbot make your work detectable for AI or plagiarism?
lecturers have said that student’s putting in their own work into plagiarism detectors can get flagged on turnitin. Technically true: you have to check what rights you are giving up by putting your work into free detectors - like some AI programmes they might keep your work in a database. If that database is shared with turnitin or other plagiarism software then it might flag your essay as plagiarised, because it's coming up as similar to the work you've inadvertently deposited in the free detector. I don't believe that Grammerly or Quillbot have an agreement with turnitin so in this case you're probably fine; however, you shouldn't need to use them to detect plagiarism. You wrote the essay, so you know if it's plagiarised or not. If you quote someone else, then put in quote marks and give a citation; otherwise use your own words, don't rely on stuff like grammerly to write it for you, and you'll be fine. More on reddit.com

Quillbot ai detector
Quillbot's hit or miss tbh. sometimes it just swaps words and still sounds robotic. I've had better luck with walter writes ai, feels more like it's rephrasing how a real person would talk, not just thesaurusing stuff. More on reddit.com
Does using Uploading content to Quillbot's AI Detector, indexes the content, resulting in consequent plagarism?
If your university doesn’t have any problem with using AI to write your papers, why would you go through the effort of attempting to remove the evidence of said AI writing? No Quillbot is unlikely to index your work in a way that would trigger a self-plagiarism. More on reddit.com

Quillbot vs. AI Detectors - Does it Bypass AI Detectors?
March 18, 2025 - From what I saw, these tweaks aren’t enough to fool the more advanced detectors. Phrasly, for example, was pretty good at spotting when something was off, catching the subtle clues that show text was generated by an AI. This makes it clear that while QuillBot is handy for rewriting text quickly, it’s not foolproof, especially in settings like schools where you need to make sure your work is original.

I’m not talking about the paraphrasing tool, rather the free AI detector, and using Grammarly to detect plagiarism. I don’t have access to turnitin (only the staff do I think?) so I can’t actually see how much work is plagiarised or not, but lecturers have said that student’s putting in their own work into plagiarism detectors can get flagged on turnitin.
I just wanna know if that’s a myth or if it’s actually true

Do not use free AI detectors, not only are they not as accurate, they’re also not what we use; if you don’t use AI there’s no need to use an AI detector. Same applies to similarity scores, you’ll never have to check if you’re not copy and pasting and using your own thoughts. If you’ve used too many quotes you should be able to tell from just reading your work.
