Generally it's pretty easy to figure these out though. The results tend not to be very good, and if after 2-3 minutes of trying to locate the source text (fairly easy for my courses, but might be difficult for others), I just mark it down like crazy for the terrible style it produces. If they keep doing it, eventually I'll strike gold with one of the sources and take them to honor court.

I think it's fine. Not really different than having a colleague or student help edit a paper. Just make sure the edits make sense and that you include Quillbot as a coauthor. (last part is /s) More on reddit.com

I did check it out, since I was not familiar with it. I put in a couple of paragraphs of my own work, running through the different options, to see what it does. As an editor, it worked really well. The spell check worked like any other spell checker and it was accurate. I did have a sentence in one of the paragraphs that felt clunky, but Quillbot gave a few suggestions that helped me figure out what the issue was, that was causing it to feel that way. Overall, if you view it and use it as a helpful editing tool, I cannot see an issue with it. It did work. Personally, I don't believe all AI is bad, if used wisely. I viewed this program as an editing tool, to assist in work that was already done by me. If you use it in that type of manner, as an assistant, I don't believe it is unethical. It is the individuals that attempt to cut corners and let the AI do the heavy lifting, is when it's unethical. More on reddit.com
