Looking for some advice ... my boyfriend and I were traveling into Jackson last weekend from out of state to visit family. We got pulled over in Pearl/Rankin County on I-20 right where the speed limit goes from 70 to 60 by bass pro and the mall. Cop was pretty cool and quickly gave a citation and had us on our way.. he had us going upper 70’s in a 60 zone. Honest mistake on our end not realizing the speed zone change. Not mad about the ticket (we deserved it) but wondering how to approach it ... I planned on paying the ticket instead of going to court since we don’t live in MS. However this is my first ticket ever and I’m really not trying to have my insurance go up - I’ve heard in MS that you can pay to take an online driving class instead and that will prevent insurance going up? I’ve heard about this here and there but don’t know many details if that class is actually a thing or a rumor or if there’s stipulations? Does anyone know about this or have advice on the ticket? Every state and county seems to be a little different. Appreciate the help!
