Earth Observing System Data and Information System | Raytheon
NASA Goddard’s Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) ingests, archives and makes earth science data available to a growing international user community that includes Earth scientists; educators; federal, state, local and tribal agencies; and the general public. The data can be harnessed to support climate change and research, disaster planning and response, natural resource assessments and understanding of the Earth as an integrated system. Under this program, Raytheon also directly supports the European Space Agency’s Sentinel satellite program.

Customer Stories: NASA-EOSDIS—Geospatial/ISR|Government|Science/Engineering | Quantum
"…we needed a robust storage system that could scale to handle massive data sets stored on multiple types of media,” Raytheon's Project Technical Director explains. “We also needed a stable solution that could support 24/7 operation.” ... Key to EOSDIS success was developing a system for managing high-speed disk cache that keeps metadata persistently available for rapid searches of millions of files and petabytes of primary data that are stored on tape.
