r/razer on Reddit: How is the Black Widow v4 (75 and pro)? I am a little scared off by some of what I heard.
February 22, 2024 -

I have never owned a Razer keyboard or really any gaming keyboard except for like a red dragon key board years ago, mostly have custom/enthusiast type keyboards but I like razer and own 6 of their mice and want a flagship decked out rgb keyboard that has chroma and can be used as both a gaming keeb and a daily driver for work to kind of round out the setup for when I want to feel like embracing the gamerness aesthsetic with rgb. So when I heard there is a hotswappable 75 percent keyboard with tactiles (an unusual choice for switches but welcomed for multi purpose) I got interested.

However I heard a lot of things about double clicking etc. I had the same thing happen to me when I got the GMMK pro and used their orange pandas. Had to replace like a half a dozen switches, but maybe it was something I did as it was my first time lubing switches or maybe it was just the combo of those switches and that board because the issue never occurred when I used those switches in a different board or put different switches in the GMMK pro.

So I am curious, is it just the switches that are the problem? Because those can be swapped I guess even though I would like to use them. Or is the issue still prevalent?

Also does anybody have the pro version, I am kind of interested in it because I dont really fuck with full keebs much but I like that it has almost everything you could want, knobs, macro buttons, rgb to the max, could work as a daily driver for sure because of the numpad, but the fact its not swappable with the switches is a pretty big down side. Or is there maybe an older razer keyboard or different model anyone recommends?

EDIT: I am most likely going to hold off on the recent line of black widow keyboards or just the v4 pro but am interested in the v3 full keyboard as alterative and will probably get the v4 75 down the road like a year from now if the issues are addressed and was curious what people thought of the v3?

Edit2: ended up getting a v3 to test the waters. It was 80ish bucks. I’ll probably get the v4 at some point.

Razer Blackwidow V3 Keyboard Review: Clicky, Responsive, and Beautiful — Sypnotix
February 23, 2024 - Of course, I also like the clicky sound of the green switches (though Razer’s purple opticals are my all-time favorite). Overall, the sensory experience of this keyboard is 10/10. If you’ve read any of my reviews before, then you’ll know ...

Razer BlackWidow (2019)
The 2019 edition of Razer's BlackWidow gaming keyboard is a smart compromise for budget-conscious players, offering top-of-the-line fundamentals at the expense of some quality-of-life features we've come to expect in high-end devices.

Honestly, I've yet to come across a Razer product that isn't a winner. And I can safely say the same of the new Razer BlackWidow keyboard for 2019. Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro Mechanical Keyboard Review – Pricey but Brilliant
April 5, 2023 - For comparison, a typical keyboard will be approximately 43cm by 15cm, whereas the BlackWidow measures 46.6cm by 15.27, not counting the wrist rest. That’s only a few more centimetres yet it’s surprising just how much more chunky it makes the whole thing look and feel. With such a high price tag it’s only right to expect good build quality, especially from a big name like Razer.

May 20, 2025 - I can really see the difference between my old £30 budget keyboard and the Razer BlackWidow. The only possible improvement, is if the keyboard had a wrist support option – although I don’t personally use them anyway.

Razer BlackWidow Elite review: Finally, Razer's flagship keyboard gets media controls
It took far longer than it should have, but at long last the BlackWidow has reached parity with its high-priced competition. At some point we gave up reviewing every BlackWidow keyboard to come along. It’s not that the BlackWidow was bad or anything, but Razer was content with the design and...well, there’s only so many times you can review what’s basically the exact same device. I don’t know how phone reviewers do it, honestly, and I say that as someone who’s paid to find minute distinctions among different PC peripherals. Even by my standards, Razer was resting on its laurels.Take this line

Razer BlackWidow X Chroma review: A beautiful keyboard, but kind of a pain | PCWorld
April 6, 2017 - In fact that’s the only real difference between the BlackWidow X and Razer’s traditional BlackWidow line. I’ve always been drawn to this type of keyboard design. There’s something simultaneously futuristic and industrial about it: The keys seem to float above the base, and yet it’s very heavy and mechanical too, as you peer underneath and catch sight of the housing and the way the switches actually work. It’s like a car with an exposed engine—artistic minimalism. Note: This review is part of our best gaming keyboards roundup.
