The blackwidow v4 orange switches has a double typing issue. I own the v4 75% and very fed up about it. The 36 orange replacement I’ve received are all faulty. Customer service won’t treat you like a value customer. I would save your peace/time and look at other manufacturers. Answer from AlternativePotato644 on reddit.com

r/razer on Reddit: BlackWidow V4 Pro White - Orange/Yellow?
January 1, 2025 -

Is it possible to buy a white BlackWidow V4 Pro (Full Size) with either the Orange or Yellow switches installed? I don't see the option on Razer's website.

If not, is it possible to replace the Green switches with Orange or Yellow ones?

I like the dual knobs, can't seem to find an alternate keyboard with silent switches with macro keys. Open to alternatives... thanks.

r/razer on Reddit: Should I buy the Razer Black Widow V4 Pro Keyboard?
September 19, 2023 -

I'm considering swapping my Corsair keyboard with a Razer one after almost a full year of daily freezes and wanted to check with the community before I get trapped again.

I was considering getting either the Black Widow V4 or the Pro version. For those of you with the keyboard, is it hassle free? Does it ever crash on you?

I've never had a Razer product before so I have no experience with the software. Corsair's iCUE allows me to save macros and lighting profiles to my devices and then I can completely close or uninstall iCUE and still use the settings I previously saved. Does Razer's software allow me to do this as well? I'd like to keep the number of RGB programs I'm running to a minimum and if the keyboard can control its own lighting and macros without actively running the software that would be amazing.

Anything else I should know before dropping ~$200 on this keyboard?

TY ♥

June 10, 2023 -

Hello. I have been using blackwidow v4 pro for 1 month and I have a problem. When I put the keyboard in white in static mode, the sides of the keyboard and the wrist rest are actually white, while all the keys are pinkish. I think this is due to the keycaps on the keyboard. I don't understand what kind of nonsense this is, but can I solve this problem if I buy a normal PBT keycap set? I can't use all my equipment in white mode because of this nonsense.

Has anyone got the Blackwidow V4 Pro that's white with orange keys in Canada? I just reached out to their customer service, and they're doing a stock check. The item isn't even listed on the Canadian site, but they have it on the US site. And I know if something is out of stock, it should still show, but as out of stock. So I'm wondering if it was ever even available here.

February 11, 2023 - Note that this V4 "pro" is not wireless, which was pretty much the defining difference between the regular blackwidow v3 and the V3 Pro (other than slightly different media keys). ... That didn't stop them from giving it the "pro" price, though. Continue this thread Continue this thread Continue this thread ... So like I wrote above, I purchased this black widow V4 pro and it’s obviously a bit expensive. I’ve been a huge razor fan for 10+ years who knows but after buying this, it doesn’t feel much different than my old black widow, which is fine I loved my old one but I figure if I’m gonna spend 230+ tax I might as well make sure I’m getting the best out there now I understand that I’m writing this on a razer forum but I still want peoples opinions. I had the idea of returning this one and getting the V4, pro 75% but that’s $300 so not sure if that’s even worth it although wireless would be amazing

Great keyboard—I've been using one for almost two years now. It has a truly premium typing feel, a super comfy wrist pad, and attractive features like lighting, a volume knob, and a left-side control knob. However, be aware of a double-typing issue. I experience double key presses on some keys about once every 1,000 presses.

As someone who originally bought the green switch v4 pro and returned it in for the 75% pro - here are my thoughts. I prefer the orange switches over green. I really wish Best Buy had orange switch v4 pro in stock - would have loved to test that before swapping. But didn’t want to go through Amazon and return it if I didn’t like it… I do miss the macro and full media controls that the full version had. OLED screen on the 75% pro is a gimmick. But the typing experience is so much better on oranges I would not swap back. Also feels more solid. the wireless doesn’t have a lot of life. If you play all day with max polling + lights it will die on you. (Enough to last a couple hours though). I didn’t buy it for the wireless though. I wanted orange switches - and wanted to avoid the double typing issues the non pro has in the first batch. (Might still happen - only owned it a few weeks) Although I didn’t buy it for the wireless (I keep it plugged in 99% of the time) - it’s a feature that has grown on me. I like being able to easily switch between devices using blue tooth. Want to use my phone to write creative stories while watching TV? Check. Want a better typing experience when on my laptop / traveling? Check. 5. OLED is largely a gimmick for me. I set it to display the battery life / connection type of the keyboard. I only use the dial for pausing / listening to music. (Track controls). It’s nice and if I wanted to I could really get creative with it (macros) - but eh. I don’t care to. 6. Hotswappables are “cool” if you ever get into modding. I don’t plan on ever using that feature - but it’s nice nonetheless.

r/razer on Reddit: Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro Questions
July 3, 2024 -

I'm a frequent Razer customer; I've purchased or been involved in the purchases of over two dozen products, from mice and headphones and keyboards, to keypads and speakers and accessories. I like the brand, I like the stuff.

All the way back in like 2013, I bought a V1 Razer Blackwidow chroma with orange switches. I've loved this keyboard to DEATH, almost literally. The chroma is starting to fail on a few keys, a couple of keycaps have cracked and been glued back together, and all said I'm probably well over the hundred million keystrokes or whatever they promise. I've spilled drinks on it, disassembled it, dried it out, and it still works like a champ. Like, more than once. Love, love, love this keyboard.

Features I like: programmable dedicated macro keys. USB and 3.5mm passthrough. The legendary orange switches. The sick font on the keycaps. One thickboi cable that I can run across my desk that splits into the components at the ports.

I'm looking at the Blackwidow V4 Pro, since I'm well overdue for an upgrade. I found the secret listing for orange switches, which is sick; checkmark ticked. HOWEVER, this is where my questions come in. These pictures are, well, remarkably unhelpful. The specs? Similar. Why is the page of features not accessible from the purchase page? Irks me a bit.

Here's what I want to know.

  • Is the wrist rest detachable? The V1 didn't have one, and I don't know if I want one or not. I've never used a keyboard with a wrist rest that I liked. It's kind of a lot of money to drop without being able to go to a store and put my hands on it, y'know? If it (hopefully) does come off, what does the keyboard look like without the wrist rest?

  • What does the I/O look like at the head of the board? There are no official pictures of how the thing gets plugged in. What do the cables it comes with look like? What even does the keyboard come with in terms of cables? The listing says "Detachable Type C Cable" and the FAQ says "the included USB Type A to Type C cable", but which end is which? I assume that there's a female USB-C port on the board and a male-male USB-A to USB-C cable included; is it a springy cable like the one that came with the Huntsman mini I bought for the gf, or more like a straight cable?

  • What does "Passthrough | Yes" mean? What is passed through? Is it USB-A and 3.5mm like the one I have now, or just USB-A? USB-C? Google image search is not helpful. 3.5mm is not a necessity, I use bluetooth headphones now, but it's nice to have in case they die. Is it a thick chonky cable that carries both the passthrough and the keyboard, or do I need two cables like in the Amazon listing's pictures?

Thanks!

r/razer on Reddit: Black Widow V4 pro - A defective product
September 18, 2023 -

DO NOT buy Razer’s Black widow V4 pro. It is a defective product, although it is supposed to be of the highest quality in all its keyboard product line.

It has a double pressing when running macro. After 2-month’s communication, Razer has confirmed their incompetence in fixing their own product’s fault. Their technical cannot fix the bug inside the keyboard. The only thing they will do is just keep sending you replacement…during the period, razer has arranged to sent me 4 V4 pro. But ALL are defective, including the ones at Razer store.

In addition to double pressing issue, the keyboard also has another severe issue - constant pressing issue.

Testing video with razer laptop at Razer store is available upon request.

Also, the company has a sneaky strategy. If you find your product is defective, do not listen to them to get a replacement. Due to logistic issue, the replacement will take a long time to reach to you. This waiting period is long enough to get your 14-day refund period expired. Just ask for refund directly…otherwise, you will be another victim like me.

This company is irresponsible.

r/razer on Reddit: How is the Black Widow v4 (75 and pro)? I am a little scared off by some of what I heard.
February 22, 2024 -

I have never owned a Razer keyboard or really any gaming keyboard except for like a red dragon key board years ago, mostly have custom/enthusiast type keyboards but I like razer and own 6 of their mice and want a flagship decked out rgb keyboard that has chroma and can be used as both a gaming keeb and a daily driver for work to kind of round out the setup for when I want to feel like embracing the gamerness aesthsetic with rgb. So when I heard there is a hotswappable 75 percent keyboard with tactiles (an unusual choice for switches but welcomed for multi purpose) I got interested.

However I heard a lot of things about double clicking etc. I had the same thing happen to me when I got the GMMK pro and used their orange pandas. Had to replace like a half a dozen switches, but maybe it was something I did as it was my first time lubing switches or maybe it was just the combo of those switches and that board because the issue never occurred when I used those switches in a different board or put different switches in the GMMK pro.

So I am curious, is it just the switches that are the problem? Because those can be swapped I guess even though I would like to use them. Or is the issue still prevalent?

Also does anybody have the pro version, I am kind of interested in it because I dont really fuck with full keebs much but I like that it has almost everything you could want, knobs, macro buttons, rgb to the max, could work as a daily driver for sure because of the numpad, but the fact its not swappable with the switches is a pretty big down side. Or is there maybe an older razer keyboard or different model anyone recommends?

EDIT: I am most likely going to hold off on the recent line of black widow keyboards or just the v4 pro but am interested in the v3 full keyboard as alterative and will probably get the v4 75 down the road like a year from now if the issues are addressed and was curious what people thought of the v3?

Edit2: ended up getting a v3 to test the waters. It was 80ish bucks. I’ll probably get the v4 at some point.

I posted this in the Razer subreddit but thought it could also do some good here. Even though I'm sure the readers of this subreddit will be less surprised.

Posting this to hopefully save someone tthe future heaarttache of having tto deaal with this productt. This keyboard has a fatal manufacturing flaw that WILL have it failing on you within weeks. I'm on my third keyboard sincce Seppt 2023 and all three have failed the saame way. Keys repeaatedly double or triple strike, or don't register at all. I've lost all confidencce ttyping on this keyboard and consttaantly haave to be waattching for its mistakes. (As is evident by this unedited paragraph)

I bought this keyboard not long after it was announced and had the unfortunate reality of being a early adopter when reviews were scarce. Now the amazon page is FULL of one-star reviews echoing my same story. I returned my first one while it was still within the return window, and RMA'd my second one. My third one started failing within weeks.

This is honestly just a shame. Razer has otherwise made a beautiful keyboard, but it's just completely unusable. I've escalated this issue to Amazon and will be taking a $60 restocking fee hit just to get this thing out of my life. I had navigated away from Razer due to quality issues in the past, but this product seemed promising so I gave them another shot. So much for that. It's really quite sad that you can't buy a $200+ product without risk of it just being e-waste out of the box. Buyers beware.

The battery lasts very little. After a day of use, it goes from 85% in the morning to 10% in the evening, both in Bluetooth mode and in 2.5 GHz wireless mode with its dongle.
Is this an issue you’ve experienced as well?
