December 8, 2021 - I had it happen on my purple optical switch. Simply open up the keyboard case becareful of hidden screw near the wire rubber pad, pop out the broken switch from pcb and slot it in and....yep. ... If I may ask, and I mean no offense. How did this carnage occur? ... Speculation, but maybe drooped accidentally on the corner, upside down? I could see that sheering off the stem if keycaps were installed ... i had it happen bc my cats for some reason hate my razer keyboards SPECIFICALLY(theyre not even loud) and have picked apart 3 of them like this from 3 keyboards.

I have a huntsman elite with purple "clicky" switches and the truth is that it is very satisfactory. I also had the red ones. They were calmer, but they were not satisfactory

It all boils down to your preference. Purples are clicky and reds are linear/smooth. The purples are satisfying to type on but a lot of people prefer reds for gaming because they are faster. And no, they do not sound like membrane. If you have trouble deciding. its best to give it a try. Ask a friend or go to a store and ask if you can try either blue (the non-Razer equivalent of the clicky switches) or red (the non-Razer linear switches are still called reds) switches. See which one you like. If you end up liking the clicky ones, then go for the purples. If the linears, go for the reds. if you're new to keyboards and their switches, it does get confusing. But there are a lot of places you can get your questions answered on the internet, so ask away!

I am currently trying to figure out two questions.
(1) Which Razer keyboards currently have the Gen 2 Red Linear Optical Switches?
(2) What are the specs of the Gen 2 Red Linear Optical Switches?
(3) If the Huntsman Mini is indeed the ONLY Razer keyboard with Gen 2 Red switches... why?
Here's why I've been a bit confused. I purchased a Huntsman Elite with the Red Linear switches last month "assuming" it would be Gen 2. However, it appears that I may have been mistaken and that perhaps the ONLY Razer Keyboards to have Gen 2 Red Switches are the Huntsman Mini.
There is a YouTube video by Chyrosan22 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2TTDzzzjNE&t=623s) and at the 5:12 mark he says that he had received some specs from Razer in which they claim the Huntsman Mini has 1.0m actuation distance and 45g force in the "New" switches vs 1.0m actuation distance and 37g force in the "Old" switches.
According to the Razer webpage, however, the Huntsman Mini Gen 2 switches should have 1.2mm actuation distance and 48g actuation force.

Well you are not the only one confused about the info out there. the youtube channel HardwareCanucks, they just released a video 31 . jan.21. Where they list the specs. Actuation force of 45g, and actuation point 1.0. I do not know if it is the same as actuation distance.
