Very disappointed in the Razer Phantom Keycap Upgrade Set. They said it's a universal kit and compatible with the 65% keyboards. I have the Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed. The keycap kit has a much smaller font. Also the font isn't as sharp. It almost looks a little fuzzy. On top of that...the frosted look cuts back on the amount of light that shines through by a lot. On top of that, almost all the FN controls are missing from the front side of the keys. It has the media functions but that's about it. I figured this would allow me to have to same thing as if I ordered the Phantom version of this keyboard but it's not the same.

I tried to return it and Razer made me pay shipping. The cost to ship was more than half of what I paid. It wasn't even worth it. I almost just threw it in the trash but decided to just throw it in a storage box in case I ever wanted to use it with a different keyboard. Definitely wouldn't ever purchase again. Love the keyboard...but these keycaps are not as advertised.

Same boat, same board. I described the font as squishy in another thread. I don't hate them, but they are unsatisfying. I'm glad I didn't pay shipping on them at least. They really look nothing like the marketing pictures.

I just returned my razer green non phantoms, absolute trash can of a product for the same reasons you listed. Fuzzy font and the dam things were basically translucent green on the lowest brightness. Glad I bought from amazon.

Installed on Razer Huntsman Elite. Despite not being PBT, has a satisfying grainy texture. Stealth works surprisingly well. The stem of the switch is visible from the back, but it's not like you'll be looking at it from that angle very often. Darker lighting effects don't exactly play nice, but still look mostly fine. 8/10.

Yeah a pic would be good, I was considering these myself because they are ABS. Razer PBTs are probably the worst keys on the market. I figure they're anti-theft devices, because no one would believe anything with blurry lettering and sub-par lighting could be a real Razer keyboard. I've seen a few reviews, and while they do look nice on mechanical keyboards, I wasn't too impressed with how they looked on opticals. Also what is with all their keycap "upgrades" having such awful lettering. Is it done by hand by a guy with the DTs?

I'm looking to invest in a huntsman keyboard, and was looking at the optional stuff. The PBT and phantom keycaps both look good, but I'm not sure which is better for me. I mostly do gaming, and sometimes some other stuff like work.

PBT keycaps are sweat-resistant and they won't wear down like ABS keycaps. So if you plan on using your keyboard a lot, the PBT keycaps might be a better option. If you want keycaps with a similar pudding effect as the Phantom Keycaps, I suggest you get a set of PBT pudding keycaps. Depending on which Huntsman model you plan on buying, the bottom row may be either standard or nonstandard. You can find cheap pudding keycap sets that accommodate both, but be sure to get the right one.

Phantom keycaps look cool. But abs..so to commit you need to be sure you like the aesthetics. Pbt keycaps are more wear resistance, and more options aftermarket including those that will support non standard layouts. Search around more..

I really like the look of the Razer Phantom keycaps (I swear I'm not a Razer stan), but I don't want to buy them if they will shine (they are ABS). From the videos I've seen people haven't talked about them shining, but I don't know if all ABS keycaps shine or just some. Do you know if they do?

If they do shine, I need an alternative. Are there any relatively cheap PBT alternatives?

I used them for 2 weeks and the spacebar already started to show the sign of shining. I quickly swapped back to PBT and sold the Phantoms. Really disappointed since they look really good and I bought it thinking my light editing job will take a long time before the keycap starts to shine. But 2 weeks? If you only buy this for display piece keyboard then I’d say go for it. Otherwise just go for pudding PBT. I am here for the same reason that I hate it is made out of ABS.
