Howdy, this is more or less my experience with synapse 3 (i've used previous versions without any issues).

Bought a gaming keyboard like 10 months ago, installed the app to customize rgb effects, was nice and all. But then i noticed my PC randomly freezing while the app was working in the background the next time i boot my pc, while also causing boot issues for me (windows getting stuck often on booting sequence unless i unplugged the keyboard). A friend of mine was having a similar issue with random lockups but he could still use voice chat from discord for a short amount of time after computer lockup and would become 100% unresponsive including voice/audio (this happened after my situation but i recall him saying he bought a razer keyboard and i told him to remove synapse to fix the problem, which did end up fixing the problem, his situation happened like 2 months after mine, his build was less than 3 months old when this happened and was used for gaming/browsing)

So i decided to remove the app from windows startup and whenever i felt like using my RGB stuff i would open the app manually and then close it (rgb would continue to work and the app would not cause issues if doing this).

Fast forward into the present (yesterday/today), i decided to use the app again after like 8 months of not using it, and voilá. App is still doing the same stuff from nearly a year ago, next boot sequence got stuck twice (had to shut down using power button twice, removed keyboard from 3rd attempt and it worked), went instantly to unninstall synapse, and like 5 seconds after unninstalling synapse, my PC locks up instantly and becomes unresponsive, forcing me to shut down using power button a third time. There are many people out there having issues with this thing, sure it might work for a lot of people, but the issue in question is not something rare to spot. Even more so when my friends rig was brand new (he built it right before the price hike on GPUs during early covid), while my PC is a mix of old components from 2012-2017 and has been running for a longer period of time with a bunch of software added on top, it would be understandable that my PC could have conflicts with this software based on this alone, but a brand new custom build high end gaming PC was having the same issue as me when the only thing it had at the time was synapse + basic stuff like game launchers/browsers and discord, in-fact, my friend was having more lockups and much faster than i did but he had the discord bonus, so he could give a heads up when his computer locked up and then we would stop hearing him (usually 5 seconds untill lockup). So it is safe to assume this is not hardware specific but there is something going on that doesn't go well with Synapse, it's either bad coding behind the app or the app likes to have conflicts with alot of other stuff.

I question myself, who the hell made this software and how is this thing even considered safe to use? There should be a label when installing the software that it may cause erratic behaviour on your system for less experienced users out there so that they are aware of potential upcoming problems after installing Synapse. There is no way i am going to continue using this software. It's a sad thing because i actually like Razer peripherals and have a preferance for these, i've used older versions of synapse without any issues in the past with older peripherals for some basic rgb settings, but this latest one, it's cursed i tell you.

PS: Synapse locking up my pc was completly random and i did not manage to pinpoint any conflict with other apps first time i used Synapse (i recall using steam + synapse and then firefox + synapse, both tests would cause the PC to lockup randomly after sometime)

PPS: Reinstalling the software did not fix anything, i tried that.

I just received the news...I knew this day would eventually come...Synapse 2...end of support to the best Synapse Razer ever had 💯 My Kraken 7.1 V2's from 2016 are still my daily headset. 🙏

Razer has been in the game for a LONG time - heck I remember buying a Death Adder back in 2010, and to this day it's still my favorite gaming mouse.

Since the mouse was so good, I thought why not buy one of their headsets? Clearly Razer knows how to make a good product.. right? It wasn't long until I came face to face with the biggest steaming pile of sh*t known to man.. Synapse.

Since I started using Synapse, I have had nothing but problem. after. problem.

Some examples :

• Constant headset desyncs requiring me to restart Synapse or unplug/replug the dongle.

• Synapse minimizing my games randomly - I thought I installed malware by accident, NOPE just Synapse! (Although you could make the argument Synapse acts like malware)

• Synapse sending false positive notifications all the time. For example - I just got a notification that my local profile doesn't match what's on the cloud, but it shows the Local and Cloud profiles having the exact same time and date? This madness extends to every feature of Synapse, including updates and switching tabs. It genuinely feels like an alpha build!

I never expected a TITAN of the gaming peripheral industry to have such amateurish software. Why is their software so buggy after all this time? Do they not test builds before rolling them out?

Needless to say, this is the last headset I buy from Razer, and any Razer peripheral for that matter. The amount of headache I've gotten from this headset alone is laughable. Spend your money elsewhere - Razer does not care about it's customers and only is interested in maintaining its image as "the gamer brand."

• How come advertised HYPERSPEED , doesnt work properly when i connect 1 kb and 1 mice to the same dongle ? why is the secondary peripheral connected losing all profile ? why does it work well on synapse 3 and not on synapse 4 ?

• How come synapse 4 completely DESTROYED my Basilisk V3X Hyperspeed RGB ? like litterally red colors were completely bugged out , forcing me to order a new mice ?

• How come synapse 4 chroma studio and chroma connect BUG EVERY SINGLE TIME ?

• How come this shitty software came out from beta in this ridiculous state ?

• How come going back to synapse 3 makes you have a BIG ADS FOR SYNAPSE 4 THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REMOVE ?

This single piece of shit software is the reason why people , like me , are not going to buy razer products ever again.. like no WAY a software can fck HARDWARE
